What a stupid son of a *****. Pacquiao was also brutally KO'd by a nobody prior to his first world title fight.

Oh, but the key difference here is Pacquiao has never been hyped at all, so the journeyman tag isn't "fair". :nod

    ****ing ******* idiot.

You dont go from being a P4P fighter to "journeyman" overnight. Yeah, he got knocked out and beaten, that doesnt make him done or mean he cant fight and is a classless nobody.

Mijares had racked up some impressive victories and he did unify two of the belts, props to that. Vic fought a perfect fight and his style clashed with Mijares in all the wrong ways.

****ing amazing the number of idiots after a fighter loses

"IS PAVLIK DONE AS A FIGHTER"

"IS MIGUEL COTTO EVER GOING TO BE THE SAME??"

    Hell, remember

"VIC DARCHINUAN IS A NOBODY HYPE JOB!!"

Its called losing a fight you stupid ****s. It happens, its boxing. No one is at their best every single fight, fighters end up underpreparing for an opponent, they get into the ring and find out "****, this guy is better than me". They lose, they get knocked out, they get back and get better and the loss is a learning experience.

    I agree with MexJew.

Pavlik, Mijares and Cotto are still World Class fighters.

World Class fighters can beat any other World Class fighters on any given night.

I know styles make fights but you can't count any of the 3 out against the 3 men they lost to most recently.

Margarito is limited in skill, in that he is not fast of foot or hand, nor highly coordinated. He doesn't have great timing, nor is he a master tactician.

It's not hard to work out how he might lose, true, but it's hard to beat him.

He also has a lot of ability; he is extremely tough and has an extremely good chin, so he can walk through some of the hardest punches and continue to apply pressure. He has extremely good stamina, so he can maintain a very high workrate and constant pressure. His will to win is highly developed and he is very resilient, mentally. He chooses his shots well and throws some highly effective combinations too. All these qualities make him a formidable opponent.

If he is indeed good enough to beat some of the best fighters around, why should he not be considered amongst the best in the world? Surely, pound-for-pound is not a measure of how skilled, flashy, versatile, multi-dimensional or pleasant to watch a certain fighter is, but a measure of how good he or she is at winning fights.

Mijares is not a world class fighter.

He is a top world class fighter at the very least.

How could this even be under debate?

    , in regards to Sean.

Mijares is World Class. (I think you mean to to put a question mark in the first sentence in that last post, no?)

A lot of the members at ESB have short term memory loss, and don't remember that Mijares unified and practically shut out Arce. Mijares will come back stronger than ever, and I'll be happy knowing that I wasn't amongst the crowd who doubted him.

Arce was very faded and Mijares' performance against him wasn't that impressive, in my view. Mijares' traded too much when he should have boxed and fairly often, in doing so, appeared to be not much better than Arce. I have followed Mijares' career quite closely and I would say his most impressive recent performance was against Navarro, who is a very good fighter indeed. I hope Mijares comes back stronger too. I hope the Darchinyan fight provided the wake up call he badly needed. He needs to fight a more intelligent fight, trade much less and improve his defence, in general. It will not be easy mastering his temperament, but if he wants to be as good as he can be, he will have to try.

So what? He can make his adjustments and might win a close decision in a rematch. It looked like Mijares was trying to figure him out but it was too late since Vic got his shots in first.
