Hid out in Wales.. half of those people on that list 'hid out' in their home country for years ya plum.. Calzaghe is one of the standout fighters of the past 20 years. I think most boxing minds would agree with that. If Wards on it then Calzaghe has every right to be. Least he didn't juice up & wrestle people for 12 rounds like Ward & Hopkins.

He's not above ODLH for me ODLH won world titles in 6 different weightclasses and was lineal champion in 3 different weightclasses. And despite Usyk having a very good resume ODLH's resume is on a different level with the amount of top names he fought.

And really hard to answer. Bottom line, Usyk is clearly in the conversation.

Ward’s resume wouldn’t look as good if the truth was told. Kovalev beat him in the first fight and Ward should have been disqualified in the second.

I would argue, when evaluating a career like Usyk's, we should in some way take into account his amateur career.

For my money, he's above them all. No one else on that list has the same killer combo of quality opposition and dominance. His adjustment against Fury was the stuff of Leonard-Hearns 1.

You're very arguably the greatest ever cruiser and then you do that in a decent HW era.

    Do the math.

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone with some of these answers. I'll go with just Trinidad, who was very lucky in his ODLH decision, as I thought he was clearly outclassed. People were in such a rush to deliberately forget the monumental competition of 168 for Ward because they didn't like him. And in an equal rush to far overstate the nature of the Kovalev outcomes against the winner. But Ward was phenomenal and his resume is still stacking up very well compared to Usyk, who's excellent and all.

None of them achieved what Usyk achieved and they were all beat at one point or another with the exception of two of them and Calzaghe didn't fight truly elite competition in his whole career, Kessler is the closest he got.

The only argument you can make is for Hopkins, undisputed in the two heaviest divisions, that has never been done and probably never will be

Great thread! What Usyk has achieved in recent times is extraordinary. He's definitely surpassed most of the fighters listed. I think only Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, Oscar de la Hoya might have a case of being slightly greater but time will tell once Usyk's career is finished.

Hi, Fast. Do you feel Adrien Broner achieved enough to be rated above Packey MacFarland? I say, he achieved far more. It's not even close, really.

You don't feel Holyfield was undisputed in the two heaviest divisions?

The undisputed context, to me, is a tricky consideration, because anyone can dispute but there have been cases where the best man in the division didn't get to fight to be undisputed, the way it is commonly understood, in many situations, and in other situations still, you might get fighters like Jermain Taylor who have these highly noteworthy wins that managed this modern feat of politics and they weren't even great fighters, historically. So, I don't know how much we should put on this, comparing who Usyk has surpassed from this list. Because of the type of talent these other guys were fighting. I'll take Kovalev, Froch and Kessler over Usyk's best guys, even putting the size disadvantages into context. These are just superior fighters, p4p, overall-to me.
