Steve Kim ‏ @stevemaxboxing As it relates to punching at Floyd when he gets on the ropes, as John Wooden said,'Dont mistake activity for achievement' #boxing 100% true@! Cotto is getting way too much credit.
I think some of these rounds that went to Cotto would have evaporated had he been fighting a guy not named Mayweather. Had it been anyone else putting on the performance Floyd did, most of the cards would be reading 10-2 or 9-2-1. This talk about 5 rounds to Cotto is garbage.
True, what Kim says. But Cotto did have a lot of success downstairs. Nobody can tell me them ones weren't point scoring. And naturally, when you head-hunt against May, 90% of them are gonna' miss. Still doesn't mean you shouldn't throw and not keep that mental/physical pressure on. Because, evidently, Cotto had more success than most by what he was doing.
It's actually true. If you look closely, Cotto misses most of his punches while Floyd's counters land clean. You just go non-stop don't you.
A ton of those body shots were hitting hips and the bottoms of elbows. Even in one of those body flurries, Cotto low-blowed Mayweather cause he's a dirty fighter and couldn't get through.
Those body shots slowed Mayweather down and clearly got him breathing hard and opening up to shots to the face. Steve Kim is a ****** who used to run the "Margarito is this era's Hagler" caravan. That guy should be sacked backed to N.Korea to hail the great leader for his blatant hatred.
Cotto getting too much credit. He lost a wide decision. Scoring is a round by round basis. ESB turned overnight into a place where scoring is done so on an Event-like basis... He landed punches and at times pressured effectively. If it were Austin Trout rather than Mayweather, and the same EXACT fight happened, people would be praising Trout for winning a wide decision and being a new fearsome ruler at junior middleweight.
I think the inactivity of fighting only 4 rounds in 2 years sorta ****ed with Floyd's timing. But he still clearly won at least 9 rounds IMO.
Mayweather was breathing through his mouth cause he couldn't breath through his nose. Check from the second round on.
