Antonio Orozco vs. Steve Forbes, 8 rounds @ welterweight

 

Forbes caught the busier Orozco in the explosive first with some good power shots as both dug well on the body throughout. Orozco's power started to become a factor in the 2nd and midway into round 3 he clubbed Forbes into a reeling free-fall into the ropes, but the referee called it a slip. Orozco continued to hack at the sides of Forbes' head as the older man curled his back and leaned in to grab.

Round 4

Orozco is slamming Forbes into the ropes with his 1-2 and following up with hooks, blocked on the back of Forbes' glove but knocking him further off-kilter. Forbes is stretching out a jab and countering with his 1-2 from a low-hand guard, rolling his hands around each other at mid-range. When Orozco begins to let his own hands go Forbes ducks away.

Round 5

Orozco is slamming hooks into the side of Forbes' head and backing him up. Forbes leans forward and buries his forehead into Orozco's chest, working uppercuts on the body with either hand. Orozco pushes off and scores big uppercuts and hooks on the body while sliding back for leverage. Good left hook by Forbes inside as Orozco leans over to one side.

Round 6

Orozco is jabbing in and hammering down with the right. Forbes is elusive, throwing scything flurries on the body on the backfoot. Orozco doubles his jab and traps Forbes on the ropes, working body hooks. Orozco is leading with left hooks, parried on Forbes' right wrist, and slamming in crosses to back Forbes up. Forbes steps to his right and sticks a few long left jabs from the hip. Eviscerating left hook across the belly by Orozco.
