Round 1

Santos is rushing in, held by Martz after tossing up a few hooks. Martz tries plying Santos off with jabs and hammering rights from above. Santos circles and sticks a straight jab on the body. Martz reaches down and swats at Santos' body. Martz comes forward throwing a combo into Santos' guard and Santos rolls his ankle, falling to all fours. Not ruled a knockdown. Santos is up but still having trouble, hobbling. Martz comes forward clubbing at him. Santos blocks the head shots but goes down as Martz pummels underneath his elbows as well. Ruled a knockdown. Santos is up and hopping on his good leg, grimacing in pain. Martz presses in and peppering Santos' guard with straight loose combos and whacking his sides with both hands. Santos ties up and is carried, still hopping on a single leg, into the ropes, Martz bearing down on him with all his weight.

Ah, my townsmen. Always projecting that classy image.

 

Badly. If he manages to come back and beat Martz in spite of that, huge achievement.

If not, huge upset.

Either way, drama in store the rest of the way here. :bbb

 

Round 2

Santos invites Martz to come get him on the ropes and in the corners. Martz obliges, reaching down with jabs and countered as Santos obeys his corner, bobbing and weaving and rising with big left hooks over the shoulder. Santos falls to the mat hobbling around with Martz nowhere near him. The ref moves in to call a pause but Santos shoos him away. The ref insists a moment later and brings Santos over to his corner. They want to pull him but Santos moves out to center ring, eager to continue fighting. Time in. Martz is pumping 1-2s. Santos blocks. Santos can't take another step and stumbles onto all fours. The ref brings him to his corner one more time. Santos puts up a high guard and catches Martz' jabs and 1-2s on his right glove. Santos walks around Martaz in a shuffle, ducking low to avoid the straight combos.

Santos' entire corner and entourage are pleading with him to quit, and he is roaring no at them, refusing to even sit in his stool or face them, laying himself over the uppermost rope and turning his back on them. Very interesting to see if we get a 3rd here...

Round 3

Santos is knocked into a corner by Martz' 1-2-1-2, all blocked. Martz sprinkles in some body shots, which Santos ignores, keeping that high guard up. Martz taps some left hooks around by Santos' thumb, nicking his ear. Most of Martz' attack is still concentrated upstairs, headhunting with straights and letting Santos hide behind the shell and pick everything off. Santos is unable to get many counters off, spending all his time carefully placing his feet, wincing, and blocking. Martz is advancing cautiously, arms held out, catching a Santos left hook on the inside of his left arm.
