I'm wondering why people are that surprised about James beating Chaves. Chaves was lucky to get a draw against Bradley and found different ways to fold under pressure once Thurman and Rios started bringing the heat. Plus, he's been susceptible to getting outworked, and James does tend to keep up a good work-rate.

I honestly didn't think that there was that much to separate them going into this fight. If anything, James has improved while Chaves has regressed.

Well James has historically been somewhat of a featherfist, and Rios and Thurman are not. Him losing to Bradley, so what, its Bradley. James has never shared the ring with anyone close to their caliber. Chaves hasn't been in a war in a while now, so he's not what I'd call war torn. If anything it would have ended up a SDish fight. Not many, including you, predicted a KO.

The main event looks like a one sided fight.

Why didn't they give Chaves to Vargas? I'm sure Chaves would have took that fight.

That was like Hearns vs Roldan all over again, albeit nothing like it other than James being, like Hearns, American and having those freakish Hearns long and lanky praying mantis dimensions and Chaves being the shorter less rangy guy and, like Roldan, hailing from Argentina lol.

No, but I did predict a James win, and felt pretty confident that he could pull it off legitimately.

He's had tough battles against decent quality guys and hung in there to pull out deserved decision wins (Abreau and Dan) or to make it close enough where judges could give him the benefit of the doubt. He's never been the type to fold- and Chaves has never struck me as being anything really special.

Good performance by James and good on him for knocking that arrogant, smug smirk off that skeezy, ridiculously mustachioed face.

Chaves didn't even have to be dirty against Rios only himself to blame.
