    The eighth was pretty close but even giving it to Arnaoutis (which I can see the argument for) I'd still have Lopez just edging this...

    Josesito says he wasn't on his A game today, didn't feel sharp from the beginning, "isn't okay", hyperextended his right arm in round three and lacerated his knuckles in the 2nd...but he worked through it and is happy to win.

    Arnaoutis says he and Lopez are doing their jobs and fighting, it's what they do, but "this game has nothing different for me", as if to say he isn't surprised to lose a decision to the home fighter. He says in the eighth he couldn't see anything with the blood in his eye. He wants a rematch. He will come back stronger and better and thinks he might have Lopez's number.

    I scored the fight for Josesito Lopez through 8 rounds, 6-2 rounds, 77-74 points, giving Arnaoutis rounds 2 and 3, the 3rd round 10-8 for the flash knockdown. Lopez had a lot of trouble in the first 6 rounds, his timing was off, his jab was ineffective, and his power shots were landing at a very low rate. He was able to make up for these problems with his superior workrate, by landing more power shots than did Arnaoutis, and by being the one moving forward throughout the fight. Arnaoutis had his moments in every round, usually by working off his jab and his movement around the ring; his best round was the 2nd, which he won by landing several sharp jabs and a nice straight left. Not sure what happened in the last two rounds, maybe Arnaoutis finally gassed, maybe Lopez found his timing. But Lopez was clearly gaining control of the fight the last two rounds, landing jabs and power shots at a much higher rate of success. I think Arnaoutis was cynical to opt out the fight after 8 rounds, he obviously could still see perfectly well, but he clearly felt his best shot to win was by the technical decision. But it was not to be, the 3 judges all turned in respectable scorecards. Good comeback win for Lopez, but he's got some work to do to get back to where he was before.

    Pretty damn razor close, but I do think Josesito got 5 of those rounds.

    I thought Arnaoutis won the fight. I got so bored with all the mismatches on Fox that I will never watch such mismatches again.
