Of course "last I checked" was many years ago. (put it this way, that industry definitively jumped the shark for me with the Invasion angle)

Gibson is dancing to his left, shoulders hiking and popping as he carries his face along squared paths, never in the same place for long as Nater overreaches with light jabs from outside. Gibson counters with short jabs and hooks as he passes Nater on the right. Gibson is rooking and hooking, with Nater just walking to him. Counter uppercut by Gibson, scraping Nater's cheek and just missing his jaw.

Gibson is taking a few steps back, spreading his roots, countering with up-jabs and big left hooks as Nater comes in with baiting jabs. Double jab by Gibson slipped as Nater dips to his left. BIG CROSS ON THE ABDOMEN BY GIBSON; NATER DOWN AND OUT, WIND SAPPED!

Like, commentary was the least part of it. He was pretty high up in the company, no?

 

Ryan Karl vs. Wilbert Mitchell, 4 rounds @ welterweight

 

Round 1

Mitchell darts in with a 1-2 on the body and gets a move on. Karl chases with jabs to the forehead and rights on the chest. Karl is pinning Mitchell on the ropes and landing straight combos. Mitchell runs and places the occasional counter 1-2 off the ropes. Karl digs a left hook into the breadbasket and doubles Mitchell over. Karl lands a left hook on the ear, behind the glove as Mitchell covers up. Karl is laying hands all over Mitchell and leading with power shots, jabbing only when Mitchell runs free and lays on the ropes, feeling out with a limp jab to measure just enough to explode with clubbing shots and uppercuts.

10-9 Karl, almost 10-8

 

Solid pro debut for Ryan "The Cowboy" Karl so far in front of a not-quite-hometown-but-close-enough crowd.

His shots are very loose-armed, with gaps left in his defense, but he threw hard stuff for pretty much the entire three minutes without tiring.
