Slava could probably scoop up an interim title in a somewhat diluted light heavyweight field.

Outside maybe Kovalev, Mekhontsev and Beterbiev there isn't a whole lot to crow about.

Hopkins, Brähmer, and to a lesser extent Campillo are very skilled boxers, with a foot out the door.

Most of the up and comers in the division are deeply flawed in some respect or another (Barrera, Lepikhin, Shabranskyy, Skoglund).

Beyond the aforementioned groups there is a WIDE SEA of mediocrity. (E-Rod, Browne, Macca, Williams, Mohammedi, Oosthuizen, Cleverly, Sukhotsky, Chavez, Karpency, Bika...)

You forgot about the Gvozdyk. He's the sleeping giant in the division.

There are clips of a few of his knockouts mixed in with some training footage.

Ohhh yeah, Gvozdyk. He is up in that Kov/Beter/Mekho tier.

So we got: Stevenson, Kovalev, Hopkins, Pascal, Braehmer in the upper tiers as of right now.
Three upcoming prospects: Beterbiev, Mekhontsev, Gvozdyk.

And then loads of guys like Shabranskyy, Fonfara, Oosthuizen et cetera.

That's pretty good in my eyes.

Bivol as well, but he's just starting his career but it seems they will move him up quick.

    Bivol looks great.

So add him to the list, better than JMW IMO.

    EDIT: Meant JMW (Taras division).

Really, skip forward a year or so (Hopkins, JB, Campillo, and likely Stevenson retiring, the EE youngsters coming into their own) and we are looking at 4 elite talents, surrounded by a sea of mediocrity. Won't be a hard division for someone to scoop up an easy vacant/interim/"regular" world title belt, given politics.

Unless we are lucky enough to end up with Gvozdyk, Mekhontsev, Kovalev, and Beterbiev each holding a fourth of the crown (and better yet, coming together and unifying it) there will be loopholes by which average fighters like Shabranskyy can be coronated.

Much as happened @ light middle, with K9.

Like you said Parker was damn good for one round but after that.....not so great, Slava looked mad as hell:twisted: going after him at the end.
