he's a tricky operator, he beat bellew both times by at least a couple of rounds and got credit for neither

not saying he's elite or anything, but he'd give the likes of stevenson and beterbiev a tough evening's work

Could you give an example of divisions with true depth?

    Welter springs to mind.

1-20 are p4p head and shoulders above everyone but the LHW top 4-5.

Yeah he's a pain in the ass that's hard to look good against, I'll give him that.

Chilemba and Bika are both wild cards at light heavy.

Neither really is talented enough to ever wear a belt, yet due to styles and intangibles they will always be a threat if put in with a weak titlist.

You're crazy IB. Forgot Yunieski Gonzalez who is fighting Pascal next, Marcus Browne, Prieto and a few others I can't think of a division with a deeper prospect pool. Two years time LHW will be one of the best divisions in the sport.

    Kovalev
    Stevenson
    Pascal
    Brahmer
    Fonfara
    Chilemba
    Bute

    Beterbiev
    Gvozdyk
    Mekhontsky
    Bivol

    Brown
    Shabranskyy
    Prieto
    Salamov
    Alvarez
    Berrera
    Skoglund
    Lepikhin
    Bektimirov
    Ricci
    Koelling
    Monoghan
    Hooper

How is WW better? Take away Floyd/Manny in the near future and we have

    Khan
    Bradley
    Brook
    Thurman
    Maidana
    Guerrero
    Porter
    Alexander
    Ali
    Chaves
    Rios
    Broner
    Vargas
    Ponomarev

More elite depth through to the 20 spot, nah.

I think Welterweight is still stronger but Welterweight isn't an example of simply a strong division, it's pretty much the strongest division in boxing bar none. You'd struggle to find other divisions that could compete with that potential LHW lineup though.

LHW is also strong in the amateurs. After the Rio Olympiad the division is only going to get more crowded with guys like Joe Ward and others.

Ya but calling guys P4P better through to the 20 spot is ridiculous. Beyond the top 4 or 5 elite WW's the rest are normal contender quality (Porter, Alexander, Vargas, Rios, Chaves) the same thing IB was criticizing LHW for. Some overrate it like they have 154 the last few years.

I agree.... yet they crack the top 10 in your supposedly super elite/deep division. The elite guys themselves are largely unproven (Brook/Thurman), on the downslide (Bradley) or inherently flawed (Khan) to the point of not being able to be classified as elite. 147 is nothing too special.

And he left off Paulie, Molina JR, and about a dozen more who flood the 147 gate.
