    Melligen vs. Adjaho

    Round 1

Melligen leads the action with his right jab and left cross. Adjaho plants his feet and snakes out his own jab here and there, then hits the trail. Melligen begins to find his mark more frequently with the right hook, and Adjaho quickly adjusts, countering it with the right hand over the top. Melligen eats a big right hand at the bell but landed better throughout the round.

    10-9 Melligen

    Round 2

Melligen is the one circling now, showing a nice high/low 1-2. Adjaho is quick and agile enough to raise and drop his guard accordingly to shield himself from the attack, but it drives him back and around the ring. This round is reminiscent of Pacquiao-Clottey - the African fighter keeping behind his guard and throwing the occasional single straight punch, and the Pinoy fighter teeing off with fast combinations.

    20-18 Melligen.

    Round 3

Adjaho twisting left and right at the waist to catch the 1-2 on his gloves and elbows. Melligen begins toying with him a little, lingering after throwing a jab and waving his right fist around, trying to rap his knuckles on Adjaho's forehead. Adjaho waits as Melligen issues forth several of his 1-2, then makes an adjustment - popping Melligen with a quick double right hand as Melligen adopts his habit of pulling straight out after each combo. Melligen then makes his OWN adjustment, and the next time he throws the 1-2 bends his knees hard and ducks down instead of stepping back and plants an uppercut on Adjaho's body. He follows up with some nice body hooks. Good exchange toward the end of the round, pair of right uppercuts from Adjaho and a hard 1-2 breaking through the guard by Melligen

    Round 4

Adjaho successful early as he catches Melligen with his hands low with a nice right hand, but Melligen begins to orbit him and pop jabs in his face. Melligen sliding around the ring gracefully, like a figure skater in slow motion. Adjaho starts blocking the jab but Melligen begins following it up with left hands to the chest. Adjaho tries to break pace and jump around on Melligen's flank to hit him from the side but Melligen shows fast reflexes and ducks while moving his feet nimbly away, turning while still crouched so that he'll be squared up again when he rises.

    Round 5

Adjaho swinging his crooked left arm at the shoulder like a see-saw, but has largely given up on using his jab, as Melligen's is just a bit faster and more effective. It's a nice jab when Adjaho throws it, but he is only doing so very sparingly now. He's basically a right handed fighter. Melligen is adeptly keeping just too far away to be caught clean, and then sliding in to pester Adjaho with his 1-2 on the way in, and body work on the way out as Adjaho hoists up his guard.

    Round 6

Melligen stepping in and out with a 3 punch minimum. Adjaho begins taking some cues from Melligen and starts tripling up his jab. He then quadruples his right hand and sends Melligen scurrying back a bit. Adjaho also takes a page out of Melligen's book by leaning into some left body hooks. Melligen fires a few back.

    Adjaho round, his first.

Nope. It's not on this card - might not even be on any TV.

    Round 7

Melligen back in control with his wide circling, use of distance, and consistently hard southpaw one-two. Adjaho is just spinning in place, spinning his wheels, and watching Melligen work - trying to drop a right hand here and there but not making the same effort as in the sixth.

    Round 8

Melligen landing the 1-2, ducking and slipping. Adjaho spending most of his time tucked into his high guard, but still following Melligen around. A couple of right hand leads sprinkled in with a couple of homing jabs. Melligen evades him with ease and begins to get more confident, extending his 1-2 into five and six punch combinations before hopping back on his bike. Adjaho isn't pressuring him, just trailing behind with his jab coming out almost by rote. Adjaho finally gallops in and tries to hammer Melligen on the ropes but the Pinoy is too slippery. Melligen's jab is very accurate, even knocks Adjaho physically back into the ropes before the bell.

MJM Grand 7 rounds to 1.

    Round 9

Adjaho and Melligen crossing jabs now, getting entangled. The ref doing a good job reminding them to break since neither is working on the inside. Adkaho jumping in place to put some extra traction on his jab. It doesn't really work. Melligen leaning forward and backward in an almost seasick motion, throwing jabs at Adjaho when he comes forward and leaning back when Adjaho tries to counter. Melligen pops and moves. Adjaho again waits for a moment with Melligen's hands dropping to his sides as he casually circles Adjaho, and rushes forward with a double right hand that lands.

Why doesn't Adjaho do more of that? :think It clearly works for him.

    Round 10

Melligen jabbing and moving, his upper body swaying like a tree in the breeze from Adjaho's trickle of jabs and right hands. Melligen not taking any chances, not staying still - leaning whenever his feet aren't moving. Adjaho picks it up a bit, stalks forward, but not really laying it all out. Adjaho jabs and his hand floats behind Melligen's head - Adjaho takes advantage of having Melligen partially held and drives a right hand into his stomach. Melligen gets back into reverse gear and Adjaho walks him down, plants a right uppercut into his chest. Melligen misses a 1-2 as Adjaho times and counters him with a jab. They walk into each other and elbow their way out. Melligen jumps in with a 1-2 and Adjaho tags him with an uppercut, lying in wait.

Adjaho just won his second round out of ten, and should lose a wide decision.
