IB & ESB is a very one-sided relationship. Oprah still wubs her Stedman, though. :D

UD for Melligen, but with scattered margins.

Adjaho grins sheepishly and nods as it's announced; he knows he didn't do anywhere near enough.

Poll's closed homie. Couldn't vote if we wanted to. Solis stops him in my book.

Yeah, it was intentionally set to close earlier today so people wouldn't vote after the outcome.

It was open for a WEEK before that, though. :rant

Archie Solis vs. Eric Ortiz is set to begin, and Lupe Contreras is wetting the panties of all the muchachas (and some muchachos ).

Yeah, the goal for him should be a blowout, since he already proved much better than Ortiz last time. This is part of his "confidence reconstruction" campaign after losing to Hawaiian Punch. He just rematched Batawang a few months ago, too.

Oh - if anybody cares...Joey Gilbert beat some dude on the undercard.

Yeah. Joey Gilbert. The Contender. Remember? Me neither.

    Round 1

Ortiz has flashier trunks (azure blue silk) than handspeed. Solis out-jabs him for a while, and steps in with right hands early on before settling into more of a comfortable pose in front of Ortiz. Solis blocks the jab of Ortiz with his own jab and catches attempted hookercuts with his right hand. Ortiz tries to throw the hookercut from different angles but can't get it flush.

    Round 2

Ortiz flurries at Solis as Archie backs into the ropes. Solis simply defends and lets Ortiz miss as the punches are wild and unfocused. They get back to the middle of the ring, and Ortiz tries to land his jab but can't reach Solis, who pops him with a right hand while trying. Solis showing decent head movement, and Ortiz remains the aggressor. Solis lands a long jab without needing to take a forward step. Ortiz is well out of range to counter. Another jab from Solis brushes the face of Ortiz. Solis now begins stepping into the jab to put some more snap on it, and quickly stepping back again. Ortiz now cautious, stopping short while following Solis when Archie is about to throw a jab. Solis misses it, and Ortiz steps in with a right hand just under the chin.

    Round 3

A lot of extraneous sportsmanlike touching of gloves after some tape is replaced on the glove of Ortiz. Solis jabs and shimmies, turning Ortiz and flustering him with the constant hand in his face for a bit. Ortiz loads up on a right hand but is stymied by the end of a Solis jab on his nose. Solis winds up grabbing an incidental headlock and lets Ortiz go when told to "STOP!". Ortiz jabs cautiously from outside his ideal range, and Solis is circling left with his head tilted and banging Ortiz with right hands. Ortiz suddenly wakes Solis up with a 1-2 out of nowhere that lands as Solis wasn't expecting it and wasn't in anything close to a defensive posture. Solis pushes forward and winds up shoving on the forearms of Ortiz, who goes down on his butt. Ruled a slip. A little more casual boxing from Solis.

    Round 4

A lot of jabbing and lateral shuffling, which favors Solis. Ortiz showing his mouthpiece a bit, particularly when he gets hit with jabs. Ortiz menaces Solis with a jab feint as he comes inside, but doesn't make good on the thread. Solis in turn jabs his face like a speedbag.

Big Solis round, won almost exclusively with the jab. He hasn't lost a round, nor come close.

    Round 5

Both fighters throwing power punches behind their jab, now. Ortiz trying for right hands and gets a couple through in clubbing fashion on the side of the head of Solis. Archie opts for body punches. Back to primarily jabbing for both. Solis, of course, landing his with his longer reach and greater will. Ortiz circles left and tries to catch Solis off-guard with a 1-2. Solis now throwing his right hands behind a left hook instead of a jab. Nice body hook from Solis as Ortiz comes rushing him into the ropes.
