    Round 6

The announcers are attempting to make this sound not so one-sided. It's kind of hampered by how one-sided it clearly is. Solis isn't terribly fast but times his punches well, and with reach and strength both handicapped in his favor it's hard for Ortiz to do much consistent work. Ortiz keeps coming, though. Solis check hooks him back on his heels for a moment. Solis in and out, jabbing. Ortiz jabs to his body and comes flying in with a wild overhand right that winds up behind Solis' back. They break out of the clinch and Ortiz goes back to wild slugging, actually catching Solis with a right hand.

    Round 7

Their arms get gummed up and Ortiz whacks Solis in the body with his free hand. Solis chases Ortiz with his long jab. Ortiz backs away until Solis begins to drop his hands and hops in with a 1-2. Solis walks him into the ropes and jabs over the jab of Ortiz. Solis with a four punch combination as Ortiz has his back to the ropes, and Ortiz gets out of that spot as soon as Solis pulls out. Ortiz with a body jab. Solis keeps his own jab high, in the face of Ortiz. Solis jumps from foot to foot, changing directions in short little bunnyhops back and forth. Solis begins to parry the Ortiz jab with his hand.

    Round 8

They climb into a phonebooth and Ortiz does some quality work, brushing the top of Archie's head while Solis tries to butt his way into the chest of Ortiz and get himself set to attack the body. Ortiz discourages him with his constant broom-like flurries and they go back to fighting on the outside. Solis again shows the superior jab. Ortiz tries a tired-looking hook that Solis easily sidesteps. Solis moving around awkwardly, not giving Ortiz much of a target. Ortiz eats a couple of jabs willingly while stepping in to land a 1-2. They tie up and Ortiz works his free hand to the body.

That might have been as close to an Ortiz round as there's been.

    Round 9

Solis with a nice right hand behind his jab all of a sudden. It lands, so he follows up with another jab in the face of Ortiz. Solis now seems more alert, more aggressive. He steps in with hooks and back out as Ortiz paws at him. Solis pushes Ortiz into the ropes and Ortiz flurries softly, as Solis simply pushes his gloves down and away. They wrestle out of the corner and Solis again shoves him down to the mat. A point is taken away from Solis. Ortiz comes forward and takes a 1-1-2. Ortiz goes down again, a slip. They clinch with Solis' back to the ropes. Ortiz slows his advance, trying to look for an opening. Solis times an uppercut as Ortiz comes in. Ortiz pushes in with his right hand and Solis slaps it away. Solis unloads his own 1-2 right at the bell and Ortiz goes down - not a hard knockdown, just a glove touching the mat.

How the hell do you score that round? Solis won, and had a knockdown, but he also had a point taken away. :?

    Round 10

Solis giving Ortiz no ground and no quarter with his jab. Ortiz ties him up. Solis jabs over the Ortiz jab again. Ortiz getting beaten to the punch every time. Ortiz is clubbed on the side of the head (almost rabbit punch territory) with an overhand right and goes down again. Again, it's only his glove touching the canvas and he's right back up and ready to go. Ortiz glues his body to Solis' and tries to work him over inside, especially to the body. Solis rips himself free and Ortiz falls on the seat of his shiny trunks again. Solis goes to evasive maneuvers. Ortiz charges him with hooks and sweeping right hands that he's apparently had tucked away in his arsenal. They're a bit wild and Solis easily blocks and slips them.

98-89 98-89 and 99-88 for Ulises "Archie" Solis.

It wasn't a blowout, and in fact was a mere virtual shutout decision over someone he had previously stopped - but Solis showed he's still sharp, and still a competent boxer with his wealth of experience and newfound love of jabbing.

It's not even like they didn't see it. It had 200 views over the last week before being bumped for the RBR tonight. :huh

Since then, it's pushing 500 views and yet...

Admittedly, it wasn't exhilarating action top to bottom, and even Melligen-Adjaho didn't live up to its billing as being very competitive - but still. NO interest in discussing the only nationally televised boxing match on a Saturday night? What's ESB coming to?

I saw tidbits of the Solis fight during commercials of "Revolution" on the history channel. Looked like Solis's legs have declined significantly since his loss to Viloria, hes not as mobile, his punches dont have the snap it once did and I saw an uppercut land on him that shook his legs a little.

Still looked like hes good enough to atleast beat Nino for his belt though.

Yeah, he's no longer the stalker-destroyer power puncher. He has developed a pretty sweet jab and some head movement to compensate. It will be interesting to see how he does going forward against other top talents with no or limited mobility, just like Barrera.
