Wondering if anyone here has used headgear with the bar across the face?

I have an office job that involves customer service at an executive level. Bruises and crapes are passable, but a broken noise would not be.

Considering some full face headgear from Winning....unless I can find somethin of similar quality cheaper.

Of course I'm expecting to get a ton of **** talk for wearing it...

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

I wear a headguard with a nose bar which is a bar that goes across the face just above the nose, the brand is fairtex but all the top brands make similar ones, it offers great protection as I've never received any damage to my face and I've been in some heavy sparring sessions pretty often too.
The only blemish I received was a graze next to the eye and I've had the headguard for three years, it's great quality

You know I've been using it for three years, mainly because I have an office job and can't afford to get bruised up. But I must be honest - I hate the full face gear - it really affects my visibility, especially with shorter opponents.

I bought one of the new Reyes face savers with the nylon bar (same as De Gale and Cleverly had on sparring on ringside) a few months ago. I broke my nose in a fight and was wary when I came back to sparring as I spar some big lads. I don't really like it though, good for protection but I feel it affects my vision and I prefer to use the same head guard I would wear in a fight.

I don't wear it any more and I paid £140 for the ****er, so if anyone wants it it they can PM me an offer...

Nothing wrong with a man making a decent living! :good

I would go with the Winning face gear or something with the cage/shield. The only issue I see with the cage is that I have heard that it transfers much of the shock to the brain because of the rigid cage/shield. So the full soft face bar is probably best.

My guess is that if protecting your grill is the most important issue? Can't go wrong with Winning.

a trainer told me once that all head gear does this, it does kind of make sense in the fact that adding more mass to something allows you to exert more force on it. What are peoples thought on this

All i know is iv tried sparring with all the head gear in the gym ( bar the full face gear). Iv found sparring with no head gear you pick up more niks and bruises however it definitely feels too me less of a dull thudding impact. What do people think? It might be bollocks and i might be imagining it but i found no head gear or very light head gear better , also the bonus of feeling less bulky and able to use head movement more ?

I am no scientist, but I tend to agree with you. I think 99% of gyms would be better off if they forced guys to actually wear "partner friendly" gloves and enforced the policy relentlessly. A buddy and I do fine with QUALITY 16oz gloves (IMF Tech and Winning).

Nothing I can't stand worse than eating a shot from a guy, feeling nothing but knuckle, then looking to see he is wearing 14oz bottom of the barrel shiny pleather Everlast boxercise gloves. Vinyl so hard the crap feels like it is cutting you. WTF?!? While he is happily eating shots from my IMF Tech 16 ouncers! :fire

With that being said though? Face bar probably trumps a face cage. Especially when black eyes and broken noses are just not acceptable.
