    Shoot.

For me as a Brit i shouldnt really say this but it is funny sometimes when a Boxer makes a career beating nobodies and then takes that hype train across the atlantic and gets banged the **** out. Ive seen it happen a few times.

The hype in this country is ridiculous. Same with football before a world cup. And it reaches a crescendo where people actually leave reality behind and bet to the point of insanity against reality actually happening.

    Naseem v Barrera
    Bruno v Tyson
and last but not least my guilty favourite Hatton v Maywether

Believe me when i say i wanted Hatton to win. You couldnt cheer for anyone else and leave the pub alive. But when some of the scummier fans he has jeered the American national anthem for no reason and i heard the n word a few too many times around me in the pub, it did kinda get on my nerves.
I found myself surrounded by the kind of ******s that cheer whoever Khans fighting so long as they are white. And they had bought every word of hype on Hatton. It was kinda funny when Mayweather knocked him the **** out.

I think the funniest thing is that you are so insecure and imberassed by many of your compatriot fans that you would call Hamed and Hatton hype jobs. :patsch

Few in Britain thought Bruno could beat Tyson, he was given a punches chance at best.

The vast majority of Brits thought Mayweather would beat Hatton and he did. I never came across one single person saying it was a cert Hatton would beat him or gave Hatton more than a fair chance.

I remember Oscar de la Hoya saying Hatton had a more than great chance, he was far more positive than most Brits.

It's clear what this thread is.

Its embarrassed mate. and if you understood irony youd probably avoid that word.

I just call it how i see it. There is a flip side. i lol'd for britain when Benn ktfo'd McClellan (until...) and when Lewis ended the Tyson show.
Calzaghe gave me some great laughs as well as people underestimated him woefully. Also his father getting aggy in the pre fight was always a joy.

Im not a fan of **** heads, they arent my compatriots man. As for the fighters, altho i like hatton in interviews he was hyped to **** as was Naseem. If you dont see that you are in the wrong sport mate.

since I started watching boxing, maybe lewis vs rahman 1, but I was too young to fully appreciate the magnitude of such a hype derailment. most recently, I think victor ortiz losing the way he did against maidana on a night where he was supposed to shine is an example of an epic derailment as well.

They kind of are in a sense.

Both were good fighters, but hyped well beyond their abilities.

Really? you don't generally hear the n word used in the UK at all, it's not a British term, other terms are used sadly, but not really the n word and we also don't tend to say 'kinda' either.

We also don't use the term 'shoot'.

Could it be that one of you is touching the elephant's trunk and mistaking it for a branch while the other feels the tail and mistakes it for a brush? ;)
