FUNNIEST hype train derailment since you started watching boxing?

Right, it wasn't really funny. It was funny though vs those who hyped Dawson to no end and then having Dawson lose so pitifully to a fighter like Pascal which imho, is not all that great... Good fighter, sure, but not legendary in any kind of sense... For Dawson being the ****, P4P and all, he was quite ****...

Hell, Pascal was hurt and almost lost vs 3rd rate fighters just a few years back... Sure he's improved, some, but a top tier fighter like Dawson was supposed to be should have beat him convincingly, if not easily...

 

Manny derailing Mayweather without even stepping in the ring.

Juan Diaz getting his butt whooped from Campbell is a good one too.
Diaz was hypped up beyond belief. Some even went as far to call him the Roberto Duran of the Lightweight division.

A-Farce's hype train (as well as his maniacal fanatical female fan Karen on ESB... remember her?) came to a screeching end, when he lost to some local no body.


Khan's hype train also had to use some considerable braking.

Seriously, no one crashes those hype trains harder than the Brits.


Then there's Micheal Grant (vs. Golota), Golota (vs. Lewis)........although that train is still alive but not too well (lucky to get one post per month these days).

The biggest future hype train that will crash: Gamboa. That kid, as talented as he is, is a KO fatality waiting to happen.

Tyson against Douglas.

I was only 5 back then but I remember everyone saying that Tyson was invincible and that anyone who thought Douglas would last a round was a ****** rofl:rofl

Lacy vs Calzaghe. Calzaghe was completely written before that fight by pretty much every boxing writer in America. I remember there were even a few articles in some guy mags of how Lacy was going to be the next superstar of boxing and that him kicking Calzaghes ass would be his ascendancy to the bigtime

Although he has overcome it, Khan getting knocked the **** out by Presscot was un****ingbelievably funny. That train just blew the **** up, pretty goddamn epic
