If you were a fighter, about to enter the biggest fight of your career, after winning on a dq that half the ******ed boxing fanbase thinks was acting, would you be running your mouth about how you're getting dizzy in training?

The good thing is, we can assume anything we like. But that's all it is. What about the tests? Tell us about them.

Well I've no doubt with the ferociousness (ahem) of the punch that landed tests would have been conducted in hospital straight after the fight. Those tests would have picked something up and Dirrell would have withdrawn before now, no?

So damn true. You get it. They were hoping the symptoms would alleviate over time. They weren't going to wave huge red flags in public.

I dont understand why he waited till now to pull out of the tournament. Could it be because of the other recent developments and other fighters pulling out? thats my guess. Supposedly he has to be symptom free for 3 months before returning (which is BS enough) He doesnt really want to fight Ward and probably doesnt want to fight AA or Froch. He probably figures that pulling out citing heath problems will give him time to ponder his next move and he wont look loke a coward in doing so.

My problem is that if he is having these symptoms he would be getting "buzzed" in sparring therefor would have known something was up at least weeks ago. His fight with AA was 7 months ago. I dont doubt that he was affected from getting knocked out (dq or not he was hurt) as is any fighter who has been KOd. But he wasnt brutally KOd or anything out of the ordinary. I think that he should retire because symptoms or not, he is clearly not cut out to continue as a proffessional boxer. Its sad either way, but he is young enough to do other things with his life.

Lem Satterfield of FanHouse reports that Showtime has notified promoters Gary Shaw and Dan Goossen that the fight between Andre Ward and Andre Dirrell must happen by early October, and preferably on the original September 25 date, or a lawsuit could come into play.

Ward and Dirrell, close friends outside of the ring, have not had their promoters settle a negotiation or a venue for their bout. There were rumors that Dirrell was considering not fighting Ward a while back, but he has denied that. Meanwhile, he recently said the fight was postponed, which his promoter Shaw said isn't the case, but Shaw also says that they don't have the fight done, and given that it's September 6 and the original date was September 25, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that the fight happening on September 25 is, in the words of Gorilla Monsoon, highly...unlikely.

How the heck shold I know, I'm not a doctor. But I do know this working closely in the medical industry, the brain is incredibly sensative. WHat causes damage to one, may not do it to another.

It's not out of the realm of reality that the punch from AA did the intiail damage only to have it exascerbated in sparring.

Come on man this punch? This low 'arm' punch with little purchase and no power did the damage?

You weren't the one hit. And there's a reason those types of blows are illegal, because of the damage they can do., Why do some guys have the ability to take a punch better then others? We're all made up differently, that's why.

I can understand if people are mad the fight is cancelled, but being mad and assuming he's faking it doesn't mean ****.

I doubt you'll get a better assessment than this.
