1. Remember he fought De la Hoya and people said that Oscar was old at 34 and a part time fighter because he was involved in the promotional buisness? Why don't people say that about Floyd who is 36 and involved in the promotional buissness? 2. Remember how people would act like it was a big deal that Pac would have to work to gain weight during camp? It seems Floyd has, according to ESPN magazine, had to cancel trainings because he is losing too much weight for this fight. His personal chef on ALL Access has also said that she has designed a diet to help him GAIN weight. Comments....
positive facts about floyd mayweather dont belong here bro instead can you just say floyd ducked tooth ache ridden mosley and be done with the thread? wed all appreciate it
I have a bad feeling about this fight. I hope Floyd is alright afterwards and considers retirement. I think Canelo is going to give him a beating. I can only hope that Mayweather's team throws in the towel.
^^Floyd getting beaten to a bloody pulp or Floyd dying??! You do know his defense is still elite, even if he were to lose this fight he's not going to get beaten down to a bloody pulp. He's been fighting professionally for 17 years and no one has come close to beating him down. One questionable decision against JLC when he tore his rotator cuff I believe, every other fight hasn't been remotely close in 44 bouts. Don't make Canelo out to be a prime Ray Robinson or a prime Hearns. Those are the only 2 guys I can think of around 147-54 that could give Mayweather a beatdown.
Floyd is not young anymore. His body is starting to break down. I'm just glad his father is in the corner because he'll throw in the towel. I'm not the biggest Floyd fan because he disrespects Pacquiao so much, but still doesn't fight him, which is cowardly, but I don't want anything bad to happen to him. I think Canelo is going to beat Floyd like a tambourine, but Floyd has a lot of heart and pride, so like I said, hopefully his corner throws the towel in before it's too late.
^It's interesting that you think Floyd is breaking down. What veritable evidence do you have to back up that claim? Floyd's footwork last fight looked better than it had in over 6 years, and some of that might've been attributed to the fact he went back to his father as head trainer who enforces a more defensive first approach to Roger Mayweather. If you look at the compubox stats of last fight, FLoyd nailed Guerrero with 60% power punches and The Ghost was only able to land under 20% of his shots, the usual numerics for a fighter facing Floyd. You obviously hold a bias dispostion because of Manny P, and that's fine, but to think a flat footed Canelo Alvarez will beat Floyd to a bloody pulp is wishful thinking and a baseless statement that really doesn't hold much merit to it. And him fighting only once every year to 2 years makes him a very young 37 year old compared to others around his age. Factor in his defensive style and the fact he's never really taken any punishment in the ring, and I think this actually spells trouble for Alvarez come fight night. I see FLoyd winning 8-4 or actually TKO this guy in the latter rounds. When Alvarez' team recognizes that their fighter is getting knocked around the ring and not able to hit Floyd with anything significant, they might stop the fight in the corner around the 10th or 11th round just so their fighter doesn't take any more physical or mental abuse. Only thing holding FLoyd back in this fight IMO is his hands. If they hold up, Canelo's in a lot of trouble.
It's a good thing you're making grand statements and setting up your embarrassment right away for when the fight is over. Then you can make another alt and spew more thinly-veiled ******* ignorance from a September 2013 account and make even more of an anonymous ass of yourself.
Double standards. PBF is older than Oscar was when he fought Oscar but the haters won't admit he's not prime anymore. They still act as if the guy is 28.
Comments, huh? Okay. Massive sarcasm ahead... Because no two fighters have ever had different primes, and have never performed differently in the ring at different ages. This is why no one thinks Bernard Hopkins or George Foreman having success in the ring during their 40s is anything unusual, everyone agrees that Ali must have thrown the fight to Holmes when he performed so disgracefully at a mere 38, and no Mike Tyson fans have ever tried to argue that Tyson was past prime when he was KO'd by Buster Douglas at the age of 23. (By the way, funny thing about certain Tyson ****suckers who say that sort of ****: apparently they feel Tyson was the best fighter ever who would KO any fighter in history... but he was only any good for a couple of years and only when he was being trained by the right person. The rest of the time he sucked and a victory over him didn't count. Funny, that...) And since we know that a fighter who tends to takes punishment or exchange in his fights doesn't age any faster or become shot any faster than a fighter that fights defensively and avoids that, yeah, there's no reason why Mayweather and Oscar would be performing at different levels in their mid to late 30s.
Age and prime-ness are not perfectly correlated. Some fighters can peak during their late 30s (Marquez and Hopkins), while others can peak at mid-20s (Morales and Tyson). Oscar peaked relatively young. There are many variables to this game.
I know. It is the complexity of the game and not double standards that keep people from giving a 36 year old fighter props for fighting a 23 year, but made him the focus of blind hate when he fought a 34 year old at the age of 29. By the way, when did Mayweather peak? And what was his prime weight? Are you saying his peak is at 36 and his prime weight is above 147?
True, though Mayweather is hardly anything close to his prime and it's obvious to those that have followed him in his prime. He mostly throws single shots and throws enough to score and bank rounds, totally nothing like what he did in his prime.
