Wouldn't say it's the same. Oscar was a way past-prime, part-time fighter coming down a weight division. Whereas Dawson is still an active, somewhat close-to-his prime guy that came down. His [Dawson] job was easier in making weight. I suppose it does help Pac that he himself had to jump up two divisions, whereas Ward just stayed where he was.
Cotto Vs Pacquaio is probably a better example of people saying Cotto is weight drained at 145 lbs, yet that is only 2 pounds below his weight class.
Show me where I said Dawson won any round clearly? I scored the second and fifth for Dawson, but I wouldn't say he won them clearly.
Thank you... and yes Oscar was semi past his best but lets be real, going in it was considered a mismatch in favor of Oscar, who just dominated Forbes, who also lost a close SD to Mayweather just before that. So going in Manny looked like the Victim, in the Ward vs Dawson fight, Ward was not the under dog, he was not the victim we knew that the 7 pound difference was going to play a major role in how this fight turned out. The difference here today is the Slick Team does not have the ability to own up to their own ****... I am sorry but this is really no different than DLH Pac
He wanted a rematch against Mayweather, which would've been dumb as hell, on the basis that the score cards were worthless and Hoya really should've loss a UD. If the mayweather rematch fight would have happened it would've been at 147, as he fought against Steve Forbes at 147 to prepare for Mayweather. Hoya didn't look good at that weight, which he had not fought at for like 7 years. Forbes managed to mark hoya's face up a lot. Mayweather didn't get cold feet, he loss and it should've been a UD, Mayweather is lucky he didn't get robbed. Had the rematch happened, Hoya would've got beat worst, being at ww. Pac's win against old drain Hoya, is a good win, on the basis that no one gave him much of a chance. Hoya didn't look too good at ww getting tagged by forbes, but his weight drain wasn't the only reason why he didnt look good against pac. Pac's style confused Hoya, who was expecting pac to just run at him throwing punches, but Pac fought smart and his footspeed Hoya was not anticipating. At the end of the day though, Hoya looked visibly drained against Pac at the weigh in, he looked terrible. Dawson didn't. My thoughts on Ward's victory. It was a great win tarnished by the fact that the fight was at 168. But this is NOT Ward's fight, Dawson shouldve never called him out saying, that he will come down to 168. That's his fault. Sure after the fact he asked for a 170 catch weight, but he had already said he will come down. But Pac didn't exactly force De la hoya to fight him at 147, Hoya's last fight was at WW against Forbes. Hoya probably would've retired after the Forbes fight if Pac didn't come along, as he really wanted to fight Mayweather again, but no one wanted to see that fight again and Mayweather wouldve got more hate if he had done so. I rate Ward's victory higher because Dawson was coming off of a win against Hopkins, while Hoya loss to Mayweather a year or so before, and then came down in weight and didn't look great against Forbes, who wasn't an elite opponent. But Pac's victory is still good, but not his best though.
That's true. Pac was the clear underdog and did some thing none of us saw coming, whilst Ward was the clear favourite that did something what nearly all of us were worried about.
Pac's last fight against Bradley was offered to VIPs for free along with buffet, rooms and casino credits.
It should've been a UD man. That fight was not a SD victory, it's actually ridiculous when I think of it. I imagine you are mexican, and that is the only reason you would think those scores are legit. It is slightly similar, but Forbes wasn't an elite fighter and was just to be preparation for a possible Mayweather fight at 147. And yet C level Forbes managed to get some nice work done on Hoya's face with his marshmallow punches. Dawson had beat Hopkins, who while past his prime, was still world class elite at 175. And Dawson was not old, while Hoya clearly was. So there are some differences here.
Of course it is, you don't even have to ask. I will say though, I think Dawson wasn't ill-affected to the same degree DLH was in making weight.
The fight was scored an official SD! Deal with it.. why you gotta bring up race? I mean I could argue your black thats why you feel it was a UD, or that your a wigger thats why you feel its a UD.. Bottom line its an official single point SD, Forbes busted Oscars eye socket sure but he didnt win more than 2 rounds...
Well the only titles that were on the line was Ward's 168 titles. People don't seem to understand this. So it's a different situation. Hoya vs Pac wasn't for a title. Hoya definitely had one foot out of the game at this point, all he wanted for Mayweather. The Pac fight happened because Roach was smart. He knew Hoya would be drained and was having trouble pulling the trigger. But Pac dominating in the fashion he did, is what makes it a great victory, very few would have been able to do that to Hoya even in the condition he was in. I don't like catch weight fights for titles, it's stupid. But Ward vs Dawson should've been at a catch weight 170, but no titles would be on the line, or both of their titles would be. IMO Dawson was in a win win decision, people are saying he was drained and he still has his titles. This is why I think he gave up, because he is probably thinking, I have the LHW titles, so what does it matter.
