It’s in defendable. If someone wants to come on here and tell me how great Fury is then I have no problem nor an argument for that. But these opponents are ****ing terrible. It’s absolutely outrageous he can get away with whilst defending this mythical lineal belt. Imagine Joshua or Wilder lined up the 50th ranked heavyweight in the world or the 7th best heavyweight in Germany. His CV is getting worse and worse. There’s plenty of top 25 heavyweights who aren’t going to cause him a problem - Breazeale, Hammer, Washington, Huck, Martin etc.
Not surprised. I’ve said it before that there’s no inbetween with Fury. It’s either complete trash or the best fighter in the division, more often the former. You will never see him fight the likes of a Povetkin, Hunter, Pulev etc.
This reasoning always gets me: This idea that there's a different standard at championship level is another way of saying 'you have to take it from the champ' it's promoter speak aimed at justifying home cooked decisions in favour of the home fighter. If you do know anything about boxing you will know that there's nothing in the rules that says a different standard applies when a championship is on the line. Bouts are judged on a round by fund basis. If Fury lands more punches and causes his opponent to miss, as he did, then he wins the round. Do that enough times and he wins the fight with fair cards. Watching people cling to the knockdowns or say things like he was 'nearly knocked out' just makes it clear that they either don't understand how boxing is judged, or they don't want to because they're not comfortable with the implications because they don't reflect well on their guy.
When he has the belts we will see these fights as his mandatories come round but he has to get them first and this fight shows this is the business model in place. Remember he already has a WBC shot lined up for February.
Espn have invested a lot of money in tyson and the reality is he won't be fighting anybody with a pulse until They've recouped some of their investment. So he will be getting pelters until he steps up again.
Agreed sadly. He is losing lots of the goodwill he built up with the Wilder performance. This ESPN deal has been dreadful for fans.
