He was undisputed Cruiserweight champion so automatically became the WBO mandatory as per their rules.
When was the last time Fury fought 2 top opponents in the space of 3-4 months? He had a 6 months gap in between Wilder and Tom Schwarz ffs. Fury’s own promoter stated that the date he was trying to make Fury v Usyk on was 11th Feb but Fury (who was supposedly retired 2 weeks ago) HAS to fight in December and can’t wait 6 weeks to try and become undisputed heavyweight champion... stop swallowing his utter bollocks and use your brain. He fought Witherspoon (originally supposed to be Takam and then Spong) in October 2019. He was then going to fight Chisora in March 2020 but Covid hit. After beating Chisora in October 2020, he was mandatory for Joshua. That fight took a while to get made, and so did the rematch, but that wasn't anything to do with Usyk. If Fury wants a tick-over fight there is no problem with that in December as long as he fights Usyk straight after. Obviously we want a better opponent than Charr but it isn't the end of the world.
Fury: 2016 - no fights 2017 - no fights 2020 - one fight 2021 - one fight 2022 - one fight (in 9 months) ... but now suddenly he needs activity.
No? Why not?never any problems with Usyk in getting fights done or AJ for the most part bar the bronze tosser and Billy liar Fury.
What's the problem with it exactly? Surely it's better if he's active.. it's better for the entire division if the top fighters are active. If Usyk wants a few months off then fine!
Fury v Joshua in December makes sense for both and excuses are wearing thin on both sides. There is nothing stopping this fight being made in the middle of December at The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. If it does not happen now, there is every chance it will either never ever happen or be pointless when it does like Brook v Khan. Both 6 figure millionaires so the dosh argument is weak as is any other excuse. Real fighting men would make it happen.
It looks like the stadium is free in December too. The sticking point, I imagine, will be Joshua's Dazn contract. Theoretically they could show it on BT sport and Dazn but if they did, who in their right mind would buy it on the app?
Wishful thinking. Hearn will be saying Joshua is still the A-side. Fury and Joshua have both said they want to fight in December. Hearn said Joshua will fight in December. Week before Xmas at Cardiff. Stick it on both platforms to solve that argument and let people choose which channel.
I think Joshua would want the fight too - it all comes down to the tedious politics of promotions and broadcasters.
Because Fury clearly already has an opponent signed to fight already. Clear PR stunt, also consider that Fury has turned 3 chances to fight AJ. I hope Hearn calls their bluff like he did with Ortiz when he called AJ saying he was willing to step in for Miller.
If he fights anyone decent in december, no way does he make it for february against the true fighting man, brotha usyki. Tyson needs to just keep it zipped and wait till usyk is ready.
