Usyk is never going to batter Fury if anything seeing Usyk struggle against Chisora, and observing Joshua 2nd fight, Dubois, having success to the bread basket. It shows Usyk is beatable if you take it to him and get to his abdomen. For whatever reason though Fury isn't interested and wants to make a circus of himself with these MMA fights, but I don't think he cares anymore which is unfortunate and just wants to milk the money before he retires.
Yes, uninterested in his biggest career payday ever as well as in becoming the first undisputed HW champion of the four belt era, and all he has to do for that is to beat a “middleweight midget”. He turned down 90 million USD to fight the “midget” because the offer was “not good enough” but he takes a fraction of that money to fight an allegedly “much more dangerous opponent”. But it’s clearly about lack of interest, no doubt.
I'm not really interested in the arguments regarding Usyk/Fury, because they're boring and people say the samething and argue about it everyday which gets nowhere. The fact is Fury has chosen to go down this path which is the easier path for alot more money, and obviously doesn't care about the undisputed. And in the end regardless of what me and you think hes laughing all the way to the bank. The right thing to do legacy wise for his boxing career ? Absolutely not. But in the end all in all I think what was a promising Heavyweight division a few years ago has been a total disappointment in the end. We didn't see Wilder/Joshua when they were both undefeated, we probably won't get undisputed between Fury/Usyk. Too many top Heavyweights not fighting often enough. I think if Fury doesn't intend to fight another professional boxing match after his fight vs Ngannou, they should just strip him of the title and let's move on from Fury and try and concentrate on future.
It's not a fan war argument but a logical conclusion. Fury himself said that he wanted to earn "as much money as possible" before retirement. The 90 million USD that the Saudis offered to him to face Usyk is an officially confirmed number. He turned it down, stating the offer was not good enough - even though it would have been Fury's biggest payday ever by far. After 15 years and 34 fights as a professional boxer, Fury currently has a net worth of around 160 million USD. Had he faced Usyk, he could have increased this amount by a whopping 56% - just with a single fight. These are facts, not opinions. If you apply critical thinking, the only logical conclusion is that the fighter who himself admits he wants to earn the most money possible but turns down the fight that would net him 56% of all his lifetime earnings up to that point simply doesn't want said fight. It's understandable. Usyk is a huge risk stylistically and Fury's whole Gypsy King brand is built on his (artificial) 0 loss record and the slogan "no man born from his mother can beat me". He is not afraid of Usyk physically of course. He is afraid of the financial and marketing consequences if he loses to Usyk. As for the highlighted part: let's hope that happens. Personally, I also believe that Fury practically retired from boxing after the Whyte fight almost one and a half years ago. He had a quasi-exho against Chisora as a cash grab and ever since then, Team Fury have been planning how to transfer the Gypsy King brand into fighting exhibitions against non-boxers (or maybe retired former boxers as well) that many casuals would pay good money to see. So if the WBC have just an ounce of dignity left, they strip him immediately after his confession of how he doesn't want to defend his title against boxers but wants to fight exhibitions. At least Bowe relinquished the belt so others could fought for it. Fury doesn't have what it takes to deal with the situation in this manner so hopefully the WBC will grow a spine and indeed strip him finally so the division can move on.
Should, but won't. The WeBeCorrupt don't care if their "champion" takes the **** out of their belt, they'll even help them do it by refusing to enforce decent mandatories. This is the organisation that allowed a 5 year reign of abject cowardice - don't expect too much.
That and it's easier to beat a borderline fraud with a third rate resume than a reasonably skilled legit champion with a decent resume.
Strip the fat ****ing cokehead! Let him keep fighting over the hill MMA fighters all he wants, just strip him ASAP!
Yes, that Fury demanded 50-50 to fight Joshua, who was the biggest draw in HW boxing at the time, but accepted less to challenge Wilder tells us all we need to know.
First off i am no fan of Fury other than what he does in the ring, so not seeking to make any strong case, i merely showed greats of our sport put title into cold storage, albeit a while ago. Closer to the present, Michael Spinks did not defend the Heavyweight title for a year before he lost it to Tyson, Lewis the same before facing Klitschko, Johansson did not defend for couple days short of a year. Are the public in uproar about lack of heavyweight title fights, not the general public no, they seem quite happy tp pay thir hard earned cash for PPVs like Mayweather/McGregor, Fury/Paul or Tyson Fury vs Ngannou. Sanctioning bodies are doing next to nothing, the public are still filling the coffers and not complaining, so nothing will change.
Absolutely. Strip him of that belt first thing tomorrow morning and put his ass in stocks to be pelted with rotten fruit and vegetables and sewage by members of the public for his shameless cowardice and ducking of Usyk.
This guy needs to be stripped ASAP. I don't think I've ever seen a duck so blatant in modern boxing history. I'm more upset with the WBC and that fat slob Sulaiman. How does this POS receive 0 accountability for such blatant favoritism and racism? The guy picks and chooses who and who doesn't get mandatories, stripped of their belts, and admitted to not sanctioning Bivol vs Beterbiev due to both of them being ethnically Russian. This corruption is killing the support and they aren't even subtle about it anymore. This content is protected
