Well Fury went to Wladimir's backyard as a huge underdog and beat a Wladimir who had over 20+ title defences, and hadn't been beaten in over a decade it's an historic win and a very good one. Fury's wins over Wilder are good, the Whyte win decent. Everything after that has been a total joke. I think people saying Lineal has no substance is nonsense especially with the rich history it has and Fury was definitely worthy of being Lineal regarding who he beat. But unfortunately it looks like hes ending his career on a sour note.
That historic win over Wlad is tarnished due to the PED ban and Fury’s desperate attempts to duck the rematch. The whole lineal thing was not really thing up until the mid-nineties when Foreman started to promote himself with it after getting stripped. It was pretty much a saving face act. I don’t know if you followed boxing back then but trust me, this whole lineal thing really wasn’t a thing. There’s a reason it only ever comes up in the HW division. Have you heard about the super middleweight lineal? Of course not - the whole concept is silly. And now it’s being used again by Fury the same way Foreman used it in 1995 - to save face with it.
Super middleweight only came about in the 70's along with many other weight classes. Heavyweight has been the go to division for thousands of years. A thousand years from now people will tell their children of The Gypsy King and that was Tyson Fury.
I'm in my early 20s so I wasn't born when Foreman was active in 90s, but I've always held Lineal as prestigious TBH. I don't like Fury at all but he beat the man in Wladimir for Lineal I have no issues with that, or his wins over Wilder and Whyte. But as I said everything after Whyte has been disgraceful.
There was a time when the Lineal thing was the only thing hence why there’s so much history behind it,then all the three letter belts came along and all with there sanctioning fees and there own ranking systems which like you mention demeaned the Lineal Title somewhat as well as multiple Champions in every weight division now instead of one. As for the SMW lineal holder that is Canelo after his win over Plant, don’t ask me how but apparently he is .
They're now prepoaring Manuel Charr for Fury. After Ngannou, Fury will fight his mandatory: Manuel Charr.
Fury’s backers and Usyk’s backers are both waiting on the Saudi event and the money that goes with it as would any one of us. Do people think they are going to fight the Undisputed for a fraction of what they can make fighting in a big Saudi event, even other Heavyweights without belts or titles are hanging around waiting for some of this Saudi money hence the reason that the division is as good as dead so far this year .
Fury’s living of his Lineal ****. He’s just a BELT holder. No one has taken/unified/cleaned up the division since Lewis retired. So **** Fury and move on. Until then everyone is falling for his utter BULL****.
Fury hasn't even announced the deal he's struck with the Saudi's yet which is rumoured to be a 3 fight deal for $150m per fight....That's Usyk, Usyk 2 & AJ/Wilder. 2024 will be the biggest year in HW boxing since Tyson Fury became Champion in 2015 and the world will watch in awe. The haters will recoil and reel. The believers will be given eternal life in paradise. This content is protected
What's the difference between Fury fans and a hot air balloon? Nothing, but at least the balloon's going places.
What's the difference between Fury fans and a hot air balloon? Nothing, but at least as a Fury fan you're not going to die crashing down to earth from a flaming inferno 2000ft in the air.
The PED issue fell between the period of the Hammer fight, not the Vlad one And lineal has been a thing way before Foreman's promotion I mean Fury certainly has plenty of things you can throw at him but in all honesty, these two, naaa
I have the impression that Fury's haters would be satisfied with nothing but Tyson Fury publicly stating: "Yes. You were right all along. I'm afraid of Usyk". And then be exposed to public spitting on the pillar of shame.
The only tragedy of Usyk Fury is the fight now likely won't live up to its expectations after having a build up period of over 1 year. Atleast with Spence & Crawford we were led to believe it wasn't happening to squash expectations then boom suddenly it was on and within 8 weeks it hit our screens and we got to see the blue balls event of the century as a drained Lamborghini crushed Spence get battered
