Fury-AJ needs to be Next (Makhmudov Post Fight Video)

Losing after an attempt at cheating isn't exactly an accomplishment, but go hard.

 

But he cut Fury with a legit punch and another ref might have stopped it.

 

The cut was manageable until Wallin tried forcing it open with the side of his glove. AND HE STILL LOST.

 

They issue is that AJ did much better, and he did.

 

They have different styles and AJ wasn't fouled against.

If this is some weird attempt at "AJ is better than Fury" just ask Usyk which one gave him the harder fight.

 

No, it's not, it's just a counterpoint to those who think this is going to be a Fury walkover. Some data says otherwise. Fury has not consistently outperformed Joshua in common opponents, and Joshua has not consistently outperformed Fury.

 

I don't think I've seen anyone suggest it would be a walkover, especially at this point in their careers.

I would consider Fury the favourite though. I think he's a better boxer that can recover when things get rough. That's not to say AJ can't knock him out, I just don't think it's as likely.

 

Biggest fight in the UK. But I guess boxing is pretty much dead most other places. No one in the USA will ever know it happened.

 

at the same time, they’re very different types of fighters. AJ is a classic boxer-puncher type, emphasis on the puncher with him. He’s a decent boxer (I mean, his boxing skills are miles better than Makhmudov’s) with big power. Fury is a classic pure boxer, with the added gift of great height/reach/strength.

there will always be guys who AJ can just blast out, yet Fury has to grind out the full 12 rounds; there will always be guys who Fury can box rings around, who AJ will struggle mightily with.

usually though, when these two types meet, the pure boxer wins…

 

agreed. Fury is the favorite, but if AJ can get Fury in trouble early on in a round, and go balls out, emptying the tank, throwing non-stop at anything exposed, he might be able to get it done. If AJ had Fury in the kind of trouble Usyk did in the first fight, he could have ended it.

 

lol. I’m American. My man, we have like 350mil people here. Yes, on a per capita basis, we have fewer boxing fans than you. But we have over twice your population. In the aggregate, we’ve got plenty of boxing fans. AJ-Fury would get huge viewership here too.

 

I'm not too sure about the last part. Something that doesn't really get mentioned was how Fury was trying to ride out the punches and he had a lot of success taking some of the sting away from them, he just couldn't keep up against Usyks onslaught (and frankly, Usyk stops every other Heavyweight not named Tyson Fury that night). I don't think AJ would be able to pull that off as well.

 

AJ hits an order of magnitude harder than Usyk. You can only ride out so much.

 

Usyk hits harder now than most people give him credit for, and AJ can hit as hard as he likes, it doesn't mean much if he can't land it consistently. He's not landing the same volume and angles of Usyk, let alone with power behind them. If AJ was that good he'd have knocked Dubios out.

 

Dubois is a better boxer than AJ and hits just as hard. In retrospect, the outcome really wasn't surprising.
