This all very true.

Gypsies are naturally gifted in the art of combat since many grew up from toddlers fighting bare knuckle and becoming men in their childhood.

And so it becomes an ingrained natural instinct within and you will never see them quit or be lacking in heart.

 

Maybe they are naturally better at learning than most? Is that not a gift?

Yes exactly this. Height, reach, iq, reaction time, explosiveness, natural heavy hands etc, are all talents that a great jab can be built on.

Talents is the ceiling and skills is the floor.

 

Also. If you have a smart boxer he can definitly understand the concept in a hurry. But its alot harder to develop the specific skillset if he lacks the talents for it to be perfected. Slow hands and slow reactions may look good on the pads but not in the ring.

 

I've seen many people training that look great while hitting the pads and heavy bag yet when they step in the ring to spar they are awful. Fear of being hit does that to the majority of people that take up boxing.

 

Both are technically very good and both proper fighters.
