Well, yes and no, I would say the IBF are the best of a bad bunch, but they are still prone to favouritism.

Relevant to this thread, compare the stripping of Fury with them allowing Ruiz Jr. to keep the belt for the Joshua rematch.

Glazkov won his IBF final eliminator in March 2015, they stripped Fury after he beats Klitschko in December 2015, and Glazkov fought for the title in January 2016. A total of 10 months were allowed to pass.

Pulev won his IBF final eliminator in December 2018 against Hughie, Ruiz Jr. beats Joshua in June 2019 but isn’t stripped, Joshua then fights Ruiz Jr. again in December 2019. A total of 12 months had passed at this point.

Clear favouritism there. Joshua and Ruiz Jr. benefited from lenience, Fury did not.

Pulev would eventually fight for the title in December 2020. A total of 24 months after he won his final eliminator, and over 3 years since Joshua fought Takam (replacement for Pulev) as IBF mandatory. That is starting to sound like WBC/Wilder territory to me...

The Gypsy King controls the boxrec. He's just that great.

It is absolutely correct to take inactive fighters off the rankings.

There is no excuse at all for Fury not fighting at least once in the last 18 months.

Why didn’t he fight in November-December?

If you don’t want to fight you should be stripped of your titles.

It isn’t good for the sport for the premier division to be parked up because certain fighters would rather talk the talk than walk the walk.

I would make defences mandatory every 6
    months with no excuses.

On that date at 6 months there should be 2 replacements on standby to fight each other in case either or both fighters duck out.

If you can’t fight twice a year get out the sport. The old timers were fighting 10 times a year every year.

I think it's a tad unfair. Covid makes this an unsual time. But if the fight doesn't take place in October then I agree with this decision.

They put Callum Smith on number 1 position in the LHW division. Biggest joke since Tank was ahead of Undisputed champion at 140

Other fighters have fought during this time. AJ took a huge pay cut just to fight and he'll have fought twice before these two clowns have fought once. And seriously, who fakes a deadly thing like Covid to push a fight back?

Pulev got injured and that was why he didn't fight AJ the first time. Although I don't really believe he was injured. Also, Fury got caught on Nandrolone and cocaine. Then he ran from a Klitschko rematch which was why they had no patience with him. And I dont blame them. Look at what he's doing now? Imagine any other heavyweight champion faking Covid and then walking around Vegas 4 days later

Nah, he's more like a con man and fraud who has never defended a belt and has only fought 4 guys in the current top 50. Plus a steroids cheat. Plus a guy who is currently sitting on the belt and not fighting in the last 2 years

    He will probably
I don’t know why he would even try and avoid the 3rd fight as it puts him in serious jeopardy legally and financially.

Agreed. But so many people have been conned by Fury into believing that he is not only the best of right now, but an all time great and unbeatable. When he has only fought 2 good guys in his entire career. That's madness

I think he doesnt really believe in himself. As funny as that sounds. If he did, he would gladly beat up on Wilder again. I think he is lazy and does not want to do the work and climb that mountain again. And I think he will pay for it if he actually shows up on fight night.

Why not to believe? Pulev is not dumb, he knew how cool paycheck might wait him if he had fought vs A.J.
Most likely just did not had papers from doctors signed to be fit to fight.
And there Eddie unusually does not look for me like cherry picker ( old unranked Klit and some other nice A.J fights ).
Pulev had been ordered by IBF as mando. Ofc this was 39 y.o uncle when they had fought, I imagine how happy might be even CW boxers like Okolie, Briedis, Makabu, Dorticos to get such Pulev version in the ring even for just 1m purse.
It was less dangerous than Takam and level below this one. Less dangerous than Chisora with 0 doubts.

Boxrec before covid usually had marked boxer as inactive if he did not had fought 1 year after last fight while looks that some ranking points did had worked if boxer had come out of inactivity and had fights.
Boxrec and Fight Fax are two of most frequently used tools in pro boxing matchmaking, besides am career tracking ( AIBA profiles etc ).
Ofc they does not have complete am fights records, I today had lurked, one lad had 12? am fights listed, AIBA confirmed 85 am boxing fights, WAKO: 12 am KB fights ).
They looks that cares about pro boxing, other stuff is if boxers managers and promoters bother to submit and like this.
