Tyson Fury has been reunited with his former Amateur coach Steve Egan.

He says ''Steve knows me inside out and first trained me when i walked in a gym when i was 14''

He has a gym that his Uncle Peter built on a holiday camp he owns and he's putting it to good use he's set to spar Albert Sosnowski and Matt Skelton.

Whats your thoughts on him going back to Egan??? I've heard Fury wanted him back a few months ago and maybe his tie to Hughie pulled him back but is this a good move or would you preferred he went somewhere else. I know there was some talk on this forum about him going to a U.S trainer.

I think he needs an American trainer to be honest and the sooner the better. I don't think we have anyone in the UK who could train a big man to the top these days

I'm not too sure about Fury myself, sure, he is big, but to me he looks too 'friendly' for me to sit up and take notice, of course he is just starting his professional career, but he has been many classes above what has been put in front of him already, I think the hardest punch he has faced was when he hit himself in his 2nd or 3rd fight!

Sorry, I have gone off the topic a bit. Personally, I think a move to the US would be in his interests, maybe not just yet, but in a year or two.

You know what I'm saying. He needs to go stateside. What's the best training he can get in the UK - sparring Matt Skelton..Come off it. The trainers are there in the US it's just they don't have the available talent. All the gifted big men tend to go into the NFL/NBA for the money but the trainers are still there

I think he needs to work with Steward.

As much as I don't like the Klitschko mentality, Steward would be quality for Tyson. He could bang out his jab and turn it into a real weapon.

  8. I'd like to see him going and sparring against some of Steward's boys but I'm unsure about Steward being his full-time trainer. I don't think Steward's as good as he used to be.

Stweard or Roach would be great for Tyson. i think maybe Roach would be better judging by the fact that Roach usually trains very agressive fighters to be a bit more polished, which is what Fury looks like he needs. As for Steward.... it might take him a bit longer to adapt, but at the same time he would be getting the best ever possible sparring aswell.

Well there was talk from himself that he wanted a U.S trainer because he didn't feel the trainers here were good enough and that he needed to go to next level working with a U.S based trainer.

I personally like to see him with a U.S based trainer such as Steward or someone well known and good enough to work with him.

I get the impression this is a short term thing and he will eventually move onto working with trainers abroad.
I can't see him saying that and then not doing it...it must be a long term objective i just think this is for convenience although maybe Steve Egan is a good trainer but i do feel in two to three years we will see Fury working with a U.S based trainer.

If he did go Steward he be in for a huge wake up call because Steward took Lennox and Wlad back to basics for a while and i expect him to do the same with Fury.

As I already said, I think Fury would do well under Steward but you know what? I reckon Enzo Calzaghe would be just as effective. I don't feel US trainers are some breed of miracle workers and feel that the type of style Calzaghe trains the best with (roughly) are guys like Fury. European stance and defence added with a latino type of aggression. He always gets his fighters to throw nice crip jabs aswell which is one thing Tyson don't do as much as he should. contraversial opinion I know but why not?

I see your point and Enzo has done some great work in the past...but i do feel as much as he helped Enzo he still didn't clear up the mistakes he made such as step back out in straight lines with chin in air etc...and also the fact that his stocks gone down recently i doubt he will go with Enzo although it's a good shout.

As you said not all U.S trainers are miracle workers...some you can tell aren't to fussed and go through motions with fighters as they have bigger things to worry about and some can't connect with the British fighters mentality.

Fury seems the type to want things on his terms and i think that can be good for him but also at times detrimental.

I agree with you so much that a trainer and a fighter isn't just about tactics and training methods, if there is no rapport between them it's pretty much pointless in the long run. Hatton-Mayweather Snr. is a prime example of this... and Roach-Khan is the opposite.

I've also noticed Fury go back in straight lines with his chin up and it make me cringe each time I see him do it. His trainer should of taught him not to do that a long time ago and when he steps up this could be exposed.... hopefully he'll learn from it.

Your spot on. I hate that to and also the way when a fighter attacks him he runs out of the way leaving his left hand in there face...it's really sloppy to watch and Fury's defensive skills look down right dodgy. He's young and i hope as you said he will learn from this.
