I know i'm speculating massively, but when the first questions were being asked to Tyson Fury during the recent Fury Wilder III presser, I couldn't help but notice that when Fury was asked about how he would fight Wilder this time out, in the background you briefly here Javon say "Tyson", as if to tell him not to give too much away. Fury then goes on to mention the 18 wheeler comment, and the rest is history. And now I remember a few times in the build up to Fury Wilder 2 thinking that we famously know Javon for his stint with Adonis Stephenson, a very efficient lefty. So maybe Fury will come out southpaw and negate Wilders right hand. Obviously, Fury did'nt, he came front foot orthodox Kronk and well, we know the rest. So again, speculating massively, what if after 18months of work with Sugar Hill, Fury swithches it up ala Chisora 2, increasing the distance from Wilders only tool?? As we've seen before, Fury is proficient in southpaw. So to my questions. How effective would Fury be in the southpaw stance now against Wilder? Would Wilder expect it, or be prepared anywhat? I'm not sure Fury would carry the same KO power leading with his right (obviously) but I see a chisora 2 level performance completley ruining any plans Scott may have and systematicaly destroying Wilders confindence punch by punch. For a short space of time, I feel we've forgotten Fury is an effective switch hitter. Just a thought.
Fury has been a switch hitter in a lot of fights. He's good at it. He stopped Schwarz from the southpaw stance and looked very good. Some heavweight champs in history never defended against southpaws. Some struggled. Fury has even struggled against lefties like Wallin. Wilder has a lot of experience against southpaws, most recently fighting Luis Ortiz twice. He floored Ortiz four times in two fights and KOed him both times. To combat a southpaw you throw lead rights. A straight right hand is Wilder's best punch. So, if Fury decides to fight southpaw, he may just be opening himself to a KO shot.
Agree in sense, but would Fury leave his chin flat on the line like Ortiz? I see the comparison but it's very vague considering this is Fury and not Ortiz. I see Wilder hitting shoulders and having his feet tied up underneath him as Fury moves out. I cant see Fury ever letting Wilder get to the outside with his lead left foot to set up that straight right? Unless ring rust leaves him there perhaps. All I see is shoulders being hit and Fury rolling away. Unless Wilder is drilled properly for it ofcourse. So for you DC, would Malik have Wilder prep'd for this too?
This content is protected It appears Wilder is working on body shots, particarly left hooks to the body. It would be wild if Wilder stopped him with a left hook to the liver. He hasn't tested Fury's body in two fights. So it looks like they will both be changing things up. Deontay "The Body Snatcher" Wilder.
Yes, the body is exactly how I would work a frustrating lefty, perhaps Malik and Deontay are already prepping for this (he needs to go to body to start with no matter how Fury comes out IMO, I'm sure Scott knows this too, slow Fury down).
Unless one of the two comes out and exudes dominance over the other this could be a high tension chess match first few rounds.
Having said that, I'm not convinced Wilder can change it up the way he needs to to set up the body/straight right, over a lefty Fury. Training videos are cute, but they dont tell us much really, especially when Malik is orthodox himself. I don't think Fury is so daft that he will be unfit enough to leave his body there to be hit either, and I certainly cant see Sugar Hill letting that happen. Furthermore, I cant imagine Wilder moving his own head off the line quick enough when Fury is using his own right to jab with, considering Fury is right handed to start with. Looks to me like shooting fish in a barrel. Especially if its a front foot kronk Fury but coming out of southpaw. Deontay would be completley perplexed to say the least, where the hell would he put his feet? It would be like his own personal game of twister. Seems to me Wilder would still be looking to land that one punch while having to eat alot of his own just trying to squeeze the space, and Wilder never looks comfortable under pressure. The more I think of it, the easier I see a wide but boring UD from a lefty Fury with a swollen faced Wilder swinging at shoulders all night. Just like Chisora 2 but without the quitting on the stool (and I am in no way comparing Chisora with Wilder, I only say that because they are both orthodox).
Yes. But IMO its a two way street which makes the idea compelling. If Fury goes backwards lefty, he increases space from the right. If he goes forward lefty, he puts himself in the line of fire but could easily make Deontay trip over his own feet while disabling the right hand (just look what happened with Fury orthodox coming at him) I still see Fury having the advantage either way.
It depends on Wilder. Let's see how good he became since the last year. Fury will be as good as Wilder will allow him.
I'm not sure I'm convinced of that, are you suggesting Wilder let Fury win last time out? That's a ridiculous statement. Fury took charge of the rematch from the first bell and it was a one sided affair in truth. Now if your suggesting that Fury fights to the level of his opponents, then that makes a little more sense somewhat but still is questionable due to the last fight between the two not exactly being an evenly fought competition. I'd appreciate an elaboration on your comment.
The only thing Fury has done this camp that he has never done before Is he's training 40 ceclius+ Vegas heat Which is think is a bad move. Little guys can get away with it. Big guys, I don't think so. He won't be 273 this time. He has a good cook & diet guy so he won't drain off weight, Fury of old would have been down to 250 training in these conditions.
I tend to agree. He sparred 15 rounds in the heat a couple days ago. The first two fights were very different. I expect the third fight to be different than the others, too.
I think he started his S&C a bit earlier for his last camp also, at this point 4 weeks away for his 2nd bout he looked very good physically. He still has a little work to do right now, muscle mass to build. 3 weeks, you're not going to change much. It's always hard to judge Fury on pictures also, he can look like a flat pancake some days, but with a pump on he looks good.
