This is a first for me. Watching a lineal champ have 3 matches before taking on the one who he claimed he beat. Kinda hope he gets injured, so we can still blame Wilder.
The 1st fight was made quick. No reason to assume fight II can't be made quickly.

Fury said the WWE even could delay the Wilder fight? When has someone used an exhibition as a reason to delay getting a belt?

I think Fury will self destruct puff .
As he finds a way to wiggle his way out of the rematch .

Personally, If Fury didn't want to fight I reckon he would be fat and back on the coke by now, but something is keeping him focused and in shape, that something is boxing.

The WWE stunt is all about raising profile.

Fury Wilder II will happen and I cannot wait.

Word is that the request for the delay came from Team Wilder. They want more time in the gym to try and make Wilder's movement and fundamentals less embarrassing ahead of the rematch. The hope is that he won't look as much of a boxing simpleton and that the memory of watching his dire footwork and amateurish attempts at setting up a shot will have faded along with the derision that accompanied the cooked cards from the LA fight. Fury wanted to get a more serious, credible opponent in the meantime than clown shoes which is where the WWE match comes in.

We can call Ortiz 200 years old all we want, but at 40 he still isn't close to being the oldest fighter active. Ortiz has same chance of winning as Ruiz had going into the AJ fight.

What a hellatious mistake Fury would be guilty of making if Wilder doesn't connect, loses his belt. Ortiz & Ruiz -both decide to freeze out fury like Wilder & Tyson did to AJ.
    Ortiz vs Ruiz anyone?

As Ellerbe stated, no way is the rematch with Ortiz a cakewalk fight for WIlder.

Yeah I also believe Fury's WWE tour is about gathering more fans behind him; see no reason why he would be ducking Wilder.

    IMO, It's the timing.
    Gr8 promotions I agree.
But to do this after 2 fights with with a Shcwarz & a Wallin? who almost sliced his face in 1/2. He IMO is allowing too much time for Murphy's Law to kick in and disrupt. In theory it has only been a year since they fought, but technically speaking it will be 2, now 3 fights a part.

    Good initiative, poor judgement/timing.

This is obvious. You don't run off and take fights like Tim Schwartzs, Otto Wallin and the WWF if your true goal is to tangle with the champ

An interesting take but I can’t see how this fight doesn’t make **** loads of cash for both fighters, the notoriety from the first fight seemed to bolster both fighters into the mainstream, maybe not massively but enough for people to notice and want to see a rematch.

I think that’s a bit of an excuse in my opinion. To me it looks like they avoided having this fight, I can’t say I know who is at fault there, but the WWE stuff seems like a convenient distraction? I guess you could say this raises his profile, but so would getting this fight signed then having some panto like press conferences.

All I know is the longer they have left it, the more this fight has gone off the boil. If they had the rematch when they should have there would be plenty of interest. It’s the fact they left if until no ones cares which has put them back to needing higher profiles if anything.

I don’t think there is much else they can do to appeal to the masses anyway, they just need to have the fight before it really does become a joke. The winner would reap the rewards and become massive from that?

Yeah it but it sure didn't save Wilder from the pounding he got in the remainder of the round 12.

Pretty sure Wilder had fury on the canvas twice and put the fear of Allah in that side show clown. Hence him fighting Euro level bums.

Pretty sure wallin wasn't ranked in the top 10 and was Fury ducking a rematch. He shouldn't have looked horrible against a C level opponent in the first place.

Pretty sure klitschko wasnt interested in unifying with wilder. He saw fury as low hanging fruit, a loud mouth clown and an easy title defense. He wanted to pay wilder step aside money when he was the wbc #1 contender so he could unify with stiverne bur never tried to unify with wilder. Klitschko also praised wilder after sparring with him. All this wilder Was scared of Klitschko stuff is dead and debunked.

Pretty sure if Wilder spent his whole career fighting "punching bags" then i guess fury is a punching bag then lol.

    Nice deflecting.

So a guy with embarrassing fundamentals, and movement, a boxing "simpleton" put fury down 2x? And they're supposed to be 2 of the best on the planet?

You look really silly when you criticize Wilder given the context.

No he did not exaggerate the knockdowns wtf are you smoking? What idiot takes a 10-8 round on purpose? Whay idiot would lay on the canvas longer and risk having the ref wave it off?

These are some really desperate theories.

Fury is fighting soft opposition as he does not want to jeopardize that big payday against Wilder.

He almost blew it against Wallin. I would laugh my ass off it Ortiz were to beat Wilder.

These guys are doing more maneuvering and posturing than fighting.
