Fury is a man who thrives on his confidence and needs his self-image of being unbeatable to properly perform in the ring. What Usyk was able to do was to undermine Fury's confidence and get in his head then schooled him in the ring for long stretches in that fight and had him on dream street in the 9th. I don't think Fury and all his braggadocio will recover from the damage that has been done to his brain, confidence, and self-image as an undefeated HW champ since he is now neither. I think a rematch goes worse for him because he would doubt himself more and would have the trauma of defeat and being seriously hurt across the first fight.
Fury's confidence for this fight came from his mistaken belief that Usyk couldn't hurt him whatsoever. Knowing the truth now, Fury is fooked for the rematch. And Fury can't focus without his confidence (false confidence or otherwise). So yeah, I agree.
Yeah, cause Usyk team will make sure referee and judges are not highly corrupted this time around. Also Usyk was on a 9 month delay after the Dubois fight, cause of Fury delaying tactics. Fury also receiving a huge beating. Eating close to 200 hard punches all night. And was literally gone in the 9th round.
I don't think the rematch will be blowout in favour of Usyk. Fury still has physical advantages like size and reach which will not go away with age. Usyk's attributes are going to diminish. Usyk and Team will not have an easy job.
Yes, Fury seems to have an outsized ego even for being a top pro athlete, so it will be interesting to see how he reacts to this. We have seen champions before who never regain their previous confidence and swagger after losing their title, time will tell if Fury belongs in this company or not.
Yes, I was thinking about when his concussive moments over the last five, six years will start to catch up to Fury. He's been dropped five times during this period and two of those were very hard, but round 9 yesterday was probably worse than any of them. His recuperative ability was still phenomenal yesterday, but how will it be going forward?
I just rewatched the fight, and outside of few body shots, that Usyk took perfectly. There was literally 1-2 straight right hand that landed on Usyk, and the 2 uppercuts in the 6th. Usyk would absolutely do his homework on the mistake and correct them. Fury has no chance. I say go for it, and pay the price. I think for him will be better to retire now, or if he is greedy, just go for AJ, as it will be bigger money fight. He can still cry and claim he won that fight, even though everyone knows he lost it. But losing once more to Usyk, it's going to be final nail in the coffin for this fragile mental midget.
Fury's best chance was in this 1st fight...Usyk has figured him out now. He has lost more of his punch resistance and his aura of invincibility, from having never lost in his career, is gone now.
This well could of been the last great effort from Fury. But Usyk is post prime now too. He showed some slippage and giving away all the physical advantages is not easy to overcome. I think a rematch will be just as exciting even if Fury performs worse.
He will do better He won't mess around like he did early fight He will have more respect for Usyk's overhand left He will sack off his entire corner and hire me if he stays fit now up to the rematch he should in theory be in better condition. The miles have all added up though.
Fury surprised me and I believe he can do a lot better in the rematch. Tyson has far more success moving forward. There were moments he could have upped the pressure instead of easing off. The body work and uppercuts were effective. I couldn't believe he was dictated around the ring by such a smaller man but I also know Usyk has his ways of ring generalship.
Usyk adjusts so will, it would be hard to bet against him again However, I'm intrigued by the rematch for sure. That fight, or should I say fight night did no harm to boxing whatsoever I look forward to the rematch
