Fury easily has a better record than Joshua

    People also seem to forget that Fury had nearly 3 years of his prime out of the ring, so his career stalled and re-started. Who knows what could have transpired if he hadn't gone off the rails.

    Joshua has also had the power of Sky TV behind him during the last decade. Their careers have took a very different path, who would have thought Fury would have come back from being 30 stone and actually look slightly decent? But he has done that and more, a real Rocky story which Hearn and Joshua could only dream about.

    Purely in terms of CV's, they are similar, with Fury arguably having the better wins, but on pure legacy, and narrative, Fury wins hands down. I can almost guarantee that if Joshua ballooned to 30 stone after he beat Klitschko, had 2-3 years off, he wouldn't have returned to the ring, and if he did, he wouldn't have become world champion.

    CV's are all well and good, but Claude from The Apprentice would tear apart Joshua's once he looked into the actual detail and context, despite the names written on it. Fury's personal statement alone would get him the job.

    That doesn't mean that they're better than Wilder.

    The way I see it is outside Fury, Usyk and Wilder they're all a much of a muchness. There's a big gap. I used to have Joshua in that mix, but he's taken two batterings, one against a super-middleweight who was battling not only Joshua, but type II diabetes, atherosclerosis and obviously morbid obesity. That is an enormous skidmark that simply cannot be expunged. He will forever be tainted in a very bad way even if he were to beat Usyk (a win I would significantly credit him for).

    Wilder would knock Povetkin, Whyte and Parker out. He is too powerful and has more heart than all of them combined.

    Mitchroom is very busy today looking for angles to rip into Fury's CV and he may even attempt to devalue Wilder's CV to support his argument.

    Mitch has never liked Tyson Fury since Big Joan Fury got the green light to jump Amber Fury in the caravan 34 years ago.

    Agree 100% except that they are similar. They are so different, the "resumes". Even at first glance.

    Joshua had enormous backing and his financial fortune (modest compared to the eventual dough he would receive, but still set up for life) set in stone before he even turned professional. That must take some pressure off. The actual comeback doesn't get mentioned nearly enough except possibly by Jurgen and I will be sure to include it into my repetitive posts from now on.

    @Mitch87 It will be a sad day when these debates are over. This is peak online sports forum CV analysis like never before.

    The people missing from Fury's CV are middle tier heavyweights.

    The one missing from AJ's is arguably the 2nd best heavyweight in the world.

    The ones they both have Fury beat them more in their peak and in better fashion.

    It's not exactly close.

    The greatest sporting comeback ever and legendary along with Tiger Woods coming back from a broken body etc and winning the Masters - I am sure Mitch will complain that a Prime Jack Nicklaus was not in the field that week.

    Although I am not knowledgeable about a lot of sports, I imagine it has to be right up there, and the way he did it. People say Foreman, and although it was impressive, he lost many times and Michael Moorer was not that dangerous of a heavyweight. 6 months after his comeback Fury was robbed against Wilder in a classic. Can you believe that people moan that Fury faced Seferi and Pianeta (former title challenger)?

    Other favourite comebacks Goran Ivanisevic winning Wimbledon in 2001 as a wildcard and having been ravaged with shoulder injuries among others - could hardly win a match for 3 years prior. Another is Mark Williams downing tools for 15 years and then winning the snooker world title again. That was especially sweet for me as someone who is probably his biggest fan (sad, I know, but grew up watching him).

    i can't see him beating Trump, if both go through, and definitely can't see him beating O'Sullivan if it ends up being him. As he admits himself, he doesn't seem to have the bottle anymore to win close matches. He'd need to be in 2018 form to win again and I don't think he's close to that. I obviously hope I am wrong. What odds did you back him with?

    Great to see huge underdogs rolling back the years - that Woods win was like Big Joan Fury knocking out Usyk and Wilder before the end of this year.

    Nobody except Tiger Woods expected him to compete well that week never mind win.
