The reason why one critiques a boxing match is because of the ‘what if’ paradox. That’s why hotly contested fights warrant a rematch. As an example, to name a few fights that come to mind that proved this ‘what if’ paradox correct are; - Corrales vs Castillo 1 - Schmeling vs Louis 1 - Ali vs Frazier 1 - Wilder vs Fury 1 - Pacquiao vs Morales Fans question things, they question the variables and intangibles on something that happens in the match. The questions people had coming out of those fights, turns out, were warranted, with the previously defeated coming out victorious in a rematch, which I believe Fury will, should the rematch take place.
He did well in the early to middle rounds. But it’s a difficult one, if he keeps to his jab and outpoints Usyk eventually he’s going to get tired and Usyk will then drown him out in the later rounds. If he tries to take it to Usyk and doesn’t manage to get him out of there before the late rounds, then Usyk again will drown him out in the later rounds. All roads lead to Usyk drowning him out
“Learn how things work first, then talk. Every fighter ongoing scans and medical check after a fight. Krassyuk already explained it. Usyk felt something, on his cheeck, not on his jaw. And the Saudi, which are somehow new to Boxing, decide to check him fully. And the check comes out that he have nothing. Neither broken, neither fractured nothing.” You are a trusting one aren’t you. There’s verbal evidence from both sides to suggest there was a problem which required a scan, there’s no medical evidence to prove what it was. “As far as the clear KO. How the referee saved your boy? Simple. Just use your brain. He is paid off, so he was trying to save Fury from receiving a KD, which is a 10-8 on the scorecard. That's how he was saving Fury. And if he was to call the first KD, when Fury first fell to the ropes, there was plenty of time for Usyk to finish him off after, as if he was to interfere after it was either a stoppage or another KD, which was 10-7.” So we’re talking about then the ‘first KD’ not the ‘first fight’, you’re pissing in the observer’s pocket now. The ref stood there and watch Fury take an absolute hammering and called a standing 8 count only after he was slumped over in the corner and couldn’t stand. That was a legitimate knockdown. A 20 second count…..I’m not sure it was 20 seconds but it was a long count beyond 10 seconds yes but it certainly wasn’t pre-anticipated by the good old ref and to suggest that this is proof that the ref was paid off is pure nonsense. Considering the highly pressurised situation, a lot was on the line, ultimately, in my opinion, the ref made the right call and handled it the right way under the circumstances.
I appreciate that. I just don't think you realise what a gap there is in terms of talent and skills between Usyk and Fury, in Usyk's favour. If they were the same size, maybe there wouldn't even be a single round Fury could win against Usyk. Fury is an excellent fighter, but not an elite, all-time great one like Usyk. And at 36, with the psychological damage Usyk inflicted on him by the brutal beatdown in the 9th round, it is pretty much impossible for Fury to overcome this obstacle. Think this through. Fury aged Usyk for two years, put him through five training camps without fighting him (adding additional mileage on the clock), made him fight Dubois, made him fight in Saudi Arabia, which is pretty much home turf for Fury as he is the darling of the international boxing media, establishment, and Turki Alalshikh. The referee and the judges were on his side, and he had a nice long camp where he could lose weight and prepare for Usyk. And still, he was practically dominated. I mean, where do you go from here? Fury is seriously damaged goods now after Usyk, both mentally and physically. Whatever punch resistance he had before facing Usyk, after that 9th round it has seriously deteriorated. It's no wonder that Warren just confirmed he doesn't know whether Fury will take the rematch. He has nigh on zero chance, mate. Usyk has always been his worst matchup, but now, after what happened on Saturday... Yeah, next to zero chance the outcome will be any different. If anything, Usyk would beat him up even worse.
I knew you would be honest,, like me When it is all said and done Fury put up a valiant effort, better than many thought Did I overrate Fury? No I rate him fairly It was Usyk who I underrated A very good fight, but the best fighter won and he would win again Though I still would like to see it run back if Fury doesn't have a breakdown, which I think he will
Any boxer that likes to grab, like Fury, is briefly exposed when they go to grab. A fast, reactive, counter attacker, and Usyk is supreme at it, uses that to their advantage. Counter attacker and counter puncher, two very different things.
That's a very fair assessment. And yes, Fury made Usyk work hard, harder than Joshua did. That's why I don't understand his remarks after the fight. I also don't understand the Fury fans. He gave it his all during camp and during the fight. There's nothing more he could have done. And that is always commendable. I know it sounds like a cheap cliché, but it's true; when you give your absolute best, which Fury did, and still come up short, is that really losing? Yes, you lost the competition, but you didn't lose as a competitor, if you know what I mean. Nobody can do more than giving their absolute best and hope it will be enough. If it is, great. If it's not–well, you did what was humanly possible to do.
"I appreciate that. I just don't think you realise what a gap there is in terms of talent and skills between Usyk and Fury, in Usyk's favour." Obviously.
Brilliant post Personally they both where likely past their best, but they both brought their A game Ngannou humbled fury and the delay also helped him, yet he still couldn't beat Usyk Usyk just proved he's the better fighter amd that is exactly what happened Best man won and the fight made boxing look good. The only minor black eyes, are the ref saving fury and the judge scoring it for him. But overall the right man got his hand raised and people where entertained I watch boxing first for the sport and entertainment and I enjoyed that fight and others on the card also A good night of boxing
I dont mind a judge scoring it for Fury. There were some close rounds and you can make a case for him winning by a point. I didn't score it live but I'm surprised at some of the reactions Fury fought really well and I thought he was going to win it when he had slowed Usyk down and the body attack was clearly making Usyk uncomfortable but Usyk found another gear, another level took the initiative and should have finished with a stoppage win. The right man won. A great fight one ATG fighter one excellent one. Fight 2 could be as dramatic.
