Fury has a great gas tank for a guy his size. Still, all that size is going to take a toll. Usyk made Fury work every minute of every round. There was not much leaning, hugging or resting. Smart strategy by Usyk.
There’s verbal proof that Usyk went for an MRI for reasons of concern because of his jaw, all agree, verbally, that happened. There’s no medical proof of anything, whether it be complete horse**** or other wise.
Fury never had no game plan, had John and sugar in his ear in the corner barking different things at him, no discipline, no game plan and clowned like the clown he is, of course usyk the consummate professional took adavantage of that and come on stronger in the latter half of the fight like he always does as he's constantly using his ring iQ to work his opponent out throughout, you aren't going to get away with that nonsense with usyk, he got what was coming to him after an horrible few years from him. The ego has landed, they always do!!! And sugar Hill, meh!! never thought much of him since he used to rock about with fury with his top off early into their realtionship, cringe af, nah, wtf is that all about as a trainer, just lol. he's odd AF if you ask me. Not to mention the ref running around trying to jump in desperately to save fury from a stoppage best he could, blatant AF!
Fury understood what he was up against. He looked to be in excellent shape, fought a smart fight and for a few rounds looked like he was going to coast to a decisive victory. Usyk showed why he’s an ATG, when he dug deep, shook off some solid shots to he head and body and turned the tide of the fight. He’s a special fighter and there is no shame in losing to a guy like Usyk. I’ve watched the replay several times with the volume off and this was a legitimately good heavyweight fight. Two very skilled guys, nice contrast in styles and very high level boxing. Both guys showed great skill and stamina. I watch a lot of boxing and have watched a ton of heavyweight boxing over the years. The big guys usually slow down a lot in later rounds but this fight was pretty fast paced until the end. Great 9th round and props to Fury for finishing on his feet after being pummeled with some sharp and powerful shots. He took them on the chin and recovered to keep it interesting until the final bell. Fury was in the fight until the end and it was very close for most of the fight. I had Usyk winning 7-8 rounds and the extra point for the KD but it was competitive until the end. No surprises for me but it’s wild to see a guy Usyk’s size take shots from a guy like Fury and stay on his feet and continue to press forward. I hope they fight again but if they don’t, this will go down as a historic fight. At least for this era. Boxing needed it and this one delivered.
Fury actually fought the right fight.........................he just came up against someone that was superior in technique, range, footwork and using angles. Everything Fury did probably would've led to a knockout win against nearly everyone else at HW (other than Joshua who he would've had to stay wary against because of the power). Fury did the right things in the ring (he used head and upper body movement, he used his legs, he tried to measure with the jab, he tried (and have some success) the uppercut since it was hard for him to land down the middle), it wasn't his gameplan. It was Usyk's ability to outduel him.............
[QUOTE="kirk, post: 22878250, member: 341" Should have mauled him from round 1. Im afraid in the rematch Fury will come to maul like he did in Wilder 2, focusing on that and the body from round 1. Boxing from the outside and backing up plays to Usyks strengths.[/QUOTE] This. If Fury wants to have any chance of winning the rematch it is this. Come into rematch at 270 and try and bulldoze Usyk in the first 6 or 7 rounds. If he fails oh well at least he tried as he isn't going to outbox Usyk over 12. If I am Fury and he wants the rematch lay it all on the line and go for the KO by the 7th round.
I have to agree there have been so many high-level heavyweight snoozers over the years and in my opinion this was an exciting fight this was a well matched fight there was turns in the ebb and flow of the action. I know people are complaining about the ref calling the knockdown but I don't find it all that controversial. He was held up by the ropes many refs would have stopped it but I think it was the right call not to wave It Off. I feel in a fight of this magnitude you have to give them a chance Fury should be kicking himself after the 6th round where it looked like he was in total control and started in my viewing hurting usyk with his Upper Cuts but started clowning and did not press. It's crazy the turn around usyk had, early on it looked like his shots had no effect on Fury then in round 7 he started hurting him. Got him on the nose, cut the eye. Fury kept pulling back hands down
Once again, Warren said yesterday he was "really not sure" it would happen. You should be worried as a Fury fan, hearing stuff like that. He had a contracted rematch with Klitschko too. We all know what happened. As of now, it looks much more likely that Fury will retire instead. He was running from Usyk for two years, he aged him with several camps and the Dubois bout, he had all the odds in his favour in Saudi Arabia, and still come up short and received the worst beating of his life. He will cite his age, his kids and how he has more money than he could ever spend, and then will reiterate that he is the people's champion who was cheated out of victory against Usyk because the judges felt sorry for Usyk for the war in Ukraine. Then he will retire as "the undefeated lineal champion" to shoot more stuff with Netflix. I mean, it's Fury, mate. We all know what he is like.
Fury clearly underestimated Usyks resolve and ability to fight back. He fully respected Usyk but clearly underestimated his will and resolve
A contracted rematch. What’s the obvious after affect here? Fury beats Usyk in a rematch in October, Fury takes on AJ in 2025 for another undisputed showdown.
Mate, do you have reading comprehension problems? Fury had a contracted rematch with Klitschko too. Just like now, was legally bound to give a rematch as per the contract back then too. It never happened. I get that you are. Fury fan but what you are doing now is ridiculous.
Frank Warren, Queensberry, his promoter, says they have an immediate rematch clause. He says, Warren that is, if Fury gives the go ahead, from their perspective, it’s a green light for a rematch.
“I appreciate that. I just don't think you realise what a gap there is in terms of talent and skills between Usyk and Fury, in Usyk's favour.” I don’t think you understand what an undisputed heavyweight world title contracted rematch means. It means Fury can come back in October, make adaptations,
No, he didn't. Unless you think you know better than Sugar Hill + Andy Lee. Fury is just not on Usyk level. Swap their age and Usyk wipes the floor with Fury in 6 rounds.
