does anyone else think fury could be a realy good heavey weight? after watching the fight against power he threw some good combinations with decent power. he looked awfull at times but its nothing some serious training wouldnt fix. the things he needs to work on are clear:
    footwork
    his jab
fitness, mainly cardio vascular but also turn that flab into muscle.
and basically some real sparring and expert training.
i realy think a freddie roach or manny steward could turn him into a world title contender.

fury has always had potential. he's a big, strong, powerful guy but he is always out of shape and hasn't worked with anyone good enough to train him technically. we are about 10 fights into his career now and nothing has changed. he had a wake up call against mcd and he still doesn't train.

his ego must be staggering for him to really not give a **** about his job.

He'll give some great and entertaining fights at domestic and Euro level....he'll fall short at the World level but anything can happen, who knows what the HW scene will be like when the Klits are gone so he could easily do something big, hes only 22 so will be around for a while.

He hasn't got the hunger or desire imo, he is happy being a fat pikey eating mr kipling cakes with a nice cuppa at his nans while sparring his family at the caravan site.

Fury's got potential for sure. He's big, he's young and he's enthusiastic. His boxing ability isn't too bad but he has to improve to be a genuine top contender. If he works hard and improves as he goes, he could be great. I personally think he needs another 3 or 4 years work though. He fights regularly which is terrific but he shouldn't get carried away. Keep taking fights like this, work on his flaws and hopefully pick up the British title soon and he'll be in the frame.

Not really. Depends on what you mean, potential to do what? Win a British title one day maybe.

He doesn't have good balance, he doesn't move particularly well. It's going to be hard to improve that, its rare you see fighters massively improve things like that, there is a certain degree of natural co-ordination he lacks. Being in better shape would help but even when he was he still had these problems.

His power isn't very good because he doesn't get proper leverage, there are a lot of arm shots that look better than they are.

His defence is pretty terrible against guys that punch back, particularly when guys get close to him.

He lacks a fair degree technically and physically, and probably mentally if he can't motivate himself to weigh less than 260-70lbs which for a guy of his frame is ridiculous.

It's true. He still fights like an amatuer and hasn't really improved much. That said, he is only 22 and he's already fought some decent guys and come through them all (ok he probably lost the first McDermott fight). He's got to start learning though for me. I think he lacks good sparring and needs someone to tell him to calm down and patiently work in the ring. With the right guidance, I belive Fury could be really good.

work on fitness! He needs a style and gradually bring himself into that pattern!
Right now he is sloppy and open.

if fury was with roach he would be a 100% better fighter. he would be fitter stronger, smarter and a better boxer.

hes the type of guy who would work well with manny steward. With his height and reach he doesnt need to infight. Get that jab worked on and turn it into a real weapon and get the straight right working and with the heavys your in business. Just look at wlad. Over simplyfying i know but he has the raw materials to work with

He needs to be around people who will guide and train him properly, he has great physical attributes but he just looks so damn sloppy for the most part. I dunno, I can't see him achieving much past national level unless he sorts himself out.

Henry Wharton would probably dust him on the cobbles tomorrow.
