Errr, I read it, ergo my response. The idea that the Irish are a race apart is moronic belief; I'm intrigued to see what these 'Irish genes' are. What? You couldn't take the work of a renowned genetic archaeologist, Stephen Oppenheimer, seriously? What about the work of Bryan Sykes? Another genetic archaeologist whose work concluded the exact same as Oppenheimer's... Seriously, get out of here. As for that blog post - if you were actually familiar with the science you'd know that genetic markers originating from Germany & Scandinavia are recorded throughout the British Isles, including Ireland where there was historic migration, especially from Norway. The difference is that those genetic markers rarely reach a frequency exceeding 10% of the overall genetic makeup of Britons - and that's only the Y chromosome, that says nothing about mtDNA (X chromosome), which is rooted in the Mesolithic. The rest dates from the Neolithic, with minimal contribution of later eras, and that includes Ireland.
On account of not being irish, why not say nothing, wear normal trunks and drop the whole plastic paddy act.
If you want to research the intricacies of the article, you can use google and read up on it, in your own time, there's a bit more info on it here rense.com/politics6/irishrace.htm As far as the research conducted by Oppenheimer and Sykes here, it's nowhere nearly far reaching enough, in the amount of people sampled, to come up with any such definitive results, about the vast numbers of people that they didn't test. Oppenheimer may be highly regarded as a geneticist, but as a linguist, he's a rank amateur, and it's more archeology (guessing) than science when you're combining a small sample of tests, discredited linguistic stuff, that he knows little about, and coming up with everyone in Britain and Ireland are the same! There was very little Norweigan or Scandinavian migration into Ireland, bar a few coastal settlements. Where are you finding German genetic markers in Ireland (I assume you are including Ireland with Britain, when using the outdated term "the british isles"). Have you looked into your own genetic past?
Oh right, some nobody on the internet asserts that the work is methodologically flawed - okay  Alas, it's peer reviewed, fully referenced science that's fully embedded in the orthodox view of the genetic history of these isles; if, for some bizarre reason, you take issue with that then that's your problem. (Though I have no idea why you're so vexed by it).
Disputing genetic identity is getting a little over the top now isn't it? Isn't the human brain 88% similar to that of chimpanzees regardless of nationality? Does any of this shite really matter in any case and wouldnt it be amazing if we ignored arbitrary lines on maps and outdated nationalistic bitterness based on regimes and historic events of the past, put it all behind us and moved on with our lives as citizens of the world?
I haven't read it all, and am unfamiliar with exactly what volume of DNA testing he actually did for the book, (I was under the impression that Sykes research was regurgitated within it, so it would be unsurprising that the results are the same)...more extensive research may well wield very different results. The interpretation of his results may well be challenged in the not too distant future. "Genetic archeology" isnt science in any pure form, definitive results can only be obtained from testing the DNA of each and every person from Ireland Scotland Wales and England. The linguistic assertions Oppenheimer made have been widely discredited, and their mere inclusion, makes me sceptical of his intentions in writing it. Coupled with the fact that he's making conclusions about stuff he hadn't tested, filling in the blanks and presenting it as conclusive, seems more akin to fiction than fact. I'm not vexed, I'm just highly dubious, that the many waves of immigration havent made a lasting impact on English DNA. Ps Why are you not posting from your normal account?
Guys.. stop arguing, let this god damn thread die already. He's both British and Irish, it's even on his ****ing T-Shirt! https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/297901_180177778802819_904326517_n.jpg
nothing to do with oppenheimer. it was an article about a scientific paper from your country. this is the only account i've had on eastside boxing
Got a link to the article in question? Lol you're trying to tell me, this is your only account and you've made just 10 posts in over 2 years...yeah right!!!
On a serious point i am kinda glad he's openly Irish now he's gone to the US because i find his behaviour a little embarrasing and cringe worthy.
I would have thought that Furys priority at the moment isn't about where he's from or who he's fighting for but to get someone who can make him a pair of ****ing trunks that fit properly
Listen, Fury wants to represent his heritage. Like Macklin and even Sean Monaghan. Micky Ward did it, Gerry Cooney did it, Gerry Quarry and so on. What about the American born Mexicans? Leave him be.
