I'm starting to see a pattern emerging: If it had been a different referee, Fury loses to McDermott by decision. If it had been a different referee, Fury loses to Cunningham by DQ. If it had been a different referee, Fury loses to Wilder by Rd. 12 KO. If it had been a different referee, Fury loses to Wallin by cuts stoppage. If it had been a different referee, Fury loses to Ngannou by decision (second KD called). If it had been a different referee, Fury loses to Usyk by stoppage. Has there ever been a more blessed fighter?
Have you seen Usyk’s face today? Clearly it was a tough fight for both of them. Usyk won the fight no doubt but I wouldn’t try to discredit his victory like this.
If you see it like that. I saw a refereeing having a nightmare in the 9th. First he tries to signal for a break as Usyk is going in for the kill with Fury careening across the ring. Then he positions himself between the fighters and Usyk practically has to shove him out the way. Then he administers one of the longest counts and recovering periods to get Fury through the round.
A little correction on the Ngannou fight, and that's is the 100% intentional and full blown elbow, that should have lead to a straight up point deduction, as is intentional illegal blow. That + the not given KD, was a clear loss, even to the corrupt judges.
Exactly. Plenty of even biased UK Media, and fighters speaks about it already. Haye and Chisora though are the one that said it straight, that this was plain corruption, and if that was Usyk it would have been stopped way earlier. That was a KO and everyone knows it. They are just lying to save face for Fury.
I think what added to the confusion, was there were three opportunities for him to call a KD due to ropes holding Fury up. When Fury first fell back in the ropes legs buckled and eyes gone. Then when Fury careened across the ring legs not under him and smashed into the ropes again. Then obviously when he was collapsing into the corner ropes. I could actually understand the Ref not calling it at first, as I assumed he is probably wanting to give Fury some benefit of the doubt, and allow a finish by Usyk. But when he started actually blocking Usyk it became a bit of a comical pantomime
Rewatch Mayweather jr Vs. Canelo. See:114-114. Repeat over and over for Canelos fights. Here's a list: https://thegruelingtruth.com/boxing/history-bad-judging-canelo-alvarez/
Possibly not. Don't get me wrong, Fury's a very good fighter. But. If you ran Fury through his resume again, would he still have the 0 by the time you got to Usyk? I really, really doubt it - it might not have been any of the above that was responsible even, but he has enough poor (under prepared, unfit, disinterested) showings that I think he'd have had a shock loss or two at some point.
Exactly. This guy explain it perfectly and you can see it on the video as well. This content is protected The standing 8 count, which is super rare in boxing was an option at the start, where Fury hit the rope for the first or second time, aka they held him. You count that as a KD, as he essentially is gone, but the rope held him. If you allow the fight to goes on, you either wave the fight or wait for the guy to go down. Fury was gone, and on top of that, he receive a 20 second count and ref allows him and escort him safely to the corner. Referee saves him again. Fury is on borrow time, this is for certain.
This is true, but you can a couple of others scorecards in there as well. And even the loss to Bivol, that was a shutout. Either 12-0, or at best case 10-2 for Bivol. Yet Canelo needed just 1 round to get away with a draw ....
https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/1875794/tony-bellew-reaction-oleksandr-usyk-ko-tyson-fury/ “Without being too harsh, it should’ve been stopped in the ninth round,”. “Well, [Usyk] should’ve been allowed to continue punching in the ninth round, that should have never been a count and the referee knows he made a mistake. “In professional boxing, you don’t get a standing count unless you are about to hit the floor and the ropes keep you up. “[Fury] was stumbling around. He stumbled four times previously to the fifth stumble. It was on the fifth stumble he jumped in. “Oleksandr Usyk only needs two more punches there and it’s the end of the contest. That was stolen from him.” Here, for people that just have time understanding it. Bellew explain it perfectly. He stumbles on the ropes 4 time before that, why he didn't count him there ? They stole Usyk the KO win. Another Brit after Haye and Chisora have the balls to call it how it was. I guess Big John the Fighting Man will go after them. One after another, headbutting them to death.
Yeah I agree. On his day, Fury for me is still a top 20 heavyweight. And I must admit I was actually happy with the referee's judgement in the Wilder fight, as Fury got to his feet and finished the round the far strong. And I wasn't personally all that bothered by the rough housing of Cunningham. Even so, it's hilarious how much A-side privilege this guy has experienced along the way. His 0 needed to go
