When you say GOAT, do you mean heavyweight or all fighters that ever fought? He's not the best heavyweight in the last 25 years, let alone ever. I didn't know COVID19 attacked the brain. Seek help fast.
0 title defenses. 0. Please hold all fighters to the same standard when talking about greatness. Thanks
Fury is goat material but doesn't have enough elite potential opponents. What can he do after wilder 3 and aj?
Because his best wins are against an old Wlad and a very limited power puncher in Wilder. Let him beat AJ, Usyke and rule the division for another 5/6 years with 10/12 defenses, then perhaps he will be in the conversation for greatest heavyweight. Obviously, I look at who fighters beat. Their level of opposition. Some look at how they beat their opposition or how a fighter would do against other ATG's to determine greatness.
What? Fury has a lot to prove. He defeated a 39 year old Klitschko when he Fury was likely on PED's, and beat what will be viewed as a chinny puncher in Wilder once he retires. His third best win is likely Chisora. A win over a 39 year old, a win over a hyped puncher, and a win over a fringe level top ten opponent. That's it. While I do think Fury deserved to win on points, he landed just 34 more punches than Wlad did. After 8 years of boxing, and 30 fights, that't it. It's not enough to qualify as a GOAT, it's maybe just enough to sneak into the conversation among the most accomplished 25 heavyweights, and at the very tail end of the discussion. If Fury wants a better legacy, he needs the following: 1 ) NO MORE POSITIVE DRUG TESTS 2 ) A fight with Joshua, which he needs to win 3 ) 3-5 more wins over currently ranked top ten opponents 4 ) To retire with no more than one loss If he can do the above, then he should rate inside the top 20 heavyweights of all time, but I doubt he'll get there.
