To be honest the only thing special about fury is this: hes one of the only heavyweights to be that big and still box. He moves a lot, always has that long jab pumping. Nothing that special about his boxing ability there just weren't many heavyweights that big who also stick and move that way. If he was 6'1 we probably wouldnt hear much about him, it's his massive size and reach with that (somewhat) slick style that makes him an anomaly and hard to beat

There’s being inactive for 2.5 years and then there’s being Tyson Fury. Inactive is usually just a way of saying that they haven’t been in a competitive fight. It’s not really inactive. However, with Fury it went beyond inactive. He was turning into the marshmallow man. The guy sounded like a chain smoker every time he opened his mouth.

Respect to him for losing the weight, but let’s not dismiss the type of layoff Fury has had, as being a minor thing.

I wouldn't be shocked if Fury beats anybody, he is extremely skilled. Skilled in the way that fighters who come from boxing families are skilled. He has been boxing or preparing to box since he was a child. He is at home in a boxing ring, very relaxed. He isn't some 6-9 teenager that somebody talked into trying boxing because he was big. He is a skilled boxer who grew to be 6-9.
His movement and skills are excellent, but he is fighting a guy almost as tall who has excellent endurance and power. I never thought that that there would be a heavyweight fight between a 6-9 and a 6-7 boxer that would interest me. This one does because these are two big athletes who can fight. This one could go either way, but I agree with you that Fury is a highly skilled heavyweight.

I was trying to make the point that his resume is pretty poor for an elite and highly skilled ATG

Well he did have to fight like 3 eliminators to get his shot at the titles, and when he did, he won them. Contender to champion, he actually has a fairly decent record. I don't think people look at his record for evidence of his elite level, they only need to see the Klitschko fight tbh
