Everything Fury has said lets you know that he knew he couldn't beat Usyk and knowing Usyk takes rounds 4 5&6 off pacing himself Fury figured he give his all in those 3 rounds then if the Saudi's ref helps him not get knocked out and it goes the distance he can say he feels he won by winning those 3 rounds Of the current top 10 heavyweights Fury fought one and lost and that's the problem Joshua and Wilder are having losing because they are finally fighting top heavyweights.
Agreed. I have been saying Fury was completely rattled by Usyk since the night of "suck my balls," and he looked terrified in the post-Chisora event, yelling like and idiot and trying to steer things to Joyce. He admitted to ducking Uysk and someone made a thread with a clip of him explaining why. After degrading the man, he turned at the last minute telling everyone not to insult Usyk because he was the best he would ever face. Finally, he clowned in the fight so he could have his excuse..."havin' too much fun!" He knew Usyk was the better man going in.
I think Fury genuinely thought he won when the fight ended, probably due to his corner telling him to coast for the final rounds.
Fury messed up round 1 and 2 having fun again this was a mental fight just as much it was physical so this gamesmanship from Fury might have been worthwhile but evidently not. He dominated the mid fight. I though he was on route to badly hurting and stopping Usyk during the mid rounds and so will have every Usyk fan thought the same. Usyk then found momentum with Fury tiring which mans his feet slow ever so slightly and his power zaps which was enough to give Usyk a good edge. in this pivotal moment Usyk popped furys nose then almost KO'd him in the next round turning the fight around massively and bringing it level. Fury then took a few rounds to gather himself then the championship rounds were again close some would say Fury won 12. Great fight Fury can win a rematch. Both can make adjustments but with their aging bodies I don't expect adjustments to make the difference. Will be another stormer and very possible Fury does as he says and just walks at him which would make it look like a different fight where Usyk backs off and lets Fury tire out as he did to Chisora.
To be fair if you think you're ahead why take risks? I remember the commentators giving that opinion in the Parker Wilder fight when Parker kept coming forward on the 12th
Fury not taking the first 2 rounds seriously, which led to the judges giving them to Usyk, cost him the fight That's why I give Fury a very real chance of winning the rematch, because he got battered by Usyk rounds 8-11 but still came within 2 rounds of winning the fight Just needs to focus for the full 12 instead of messing around. Same thing he did in Wilder 1 as well to an extent which almost cost him then too
Problem is sounds like Fury does intend to approach the rematch differently which will either work for or against him.
