I thought he did better using his jab in the first fight especially in the middle rounds, but he took more risk and fought better in this fight. The rematch was a really good fight IMO.
He looked like he’d wreck anyone not named Usyk. Honestly, he looked damn good. Issue is that Usyk is just that much better.
I honestly don't think Fury did better at all in this fight, he fought more negatively, so Usyk couldn't land the same shots, so it wasn't the case of Fury improving, it was more the case of Usyk declining. Fury's own offence was shocking, he landed maybe 5 decent shots the whole fight. I don't really care about how close the scorecards are, they're a BS ****ing system anyway.
Not sure, but I see people using backhands in MMA all the time and they're fine. It's an illegal punch in boxing and he got away with it a few times.
The best man won the fight over the 12 rounds. Regarded as not big enough by many for the big British Heavyweights when he moved up weight since wiping out Tony Bellew, he has done a number on Chisora, Dubois, Joshua twice and Fury twice. Hope he retires now undefeated and becomes an ATG legend.
Thought he looked fine tbh. I think what Fury, like AJ before him, will struggle with, is that he lost twice, despite actually giving his best. It's why AJ lost his mind and why Fury will play the robbery card, despite it being obviously not one. They know deep down they couldn't have done better yet they still got beat.
It was a very mediocre, ugly fight. Kind of reminded me of Pac-Mayweather, two past their prime guys fighting safe with nothing much happening. Fury had no mobility and was just spinning around the center with shots bouncing off his stomach, his physique was unappealing to look at as well with these long chicken legs and arms and the ridiculously oversized torso. Usyk always had a fairly ugly style but now it's exaggerated with his age and having to fight a mound of blubber in Fury. I hate these guys' punching techniques as well, IDK they just lack the snap or whatever and I feel like they kind of "swing" their arms more than punch. It's just unsatisfying to look at with low expectation of a KO. It's weird because most people thought it was a good fight so IDK if it's me who's crazy or people's expectations are in the gutter now with boxing.
Seemed to me like Fury did great. Usyk has atg boxing skills and he realized he couldn’t outbox him so he came in heavier to maybe try and KO him. Fury was competitive and got some good hits in, probably as close as you can get while losing.
How long have you been watching boxing? Might just not like heavyweights, I haven’t followed heavyweight fights a lot but this has been one of the best i’ve seen. They are a lot slower paced since fights can easily end with one punch.
This. I also think Fury fought a more negative fight and he wasn't willing to risk getting knocked out, but I think that was his only chance at winning, since the excessive clinching and other attempts at fighting dirty failed miserably. The few times Fury landed a hard shot Usyk would return 3 or 4 of his own, which made Fury even more unwilling to apply more pressure.
I agree completely. Standards have really dropped if anyone calls this a classic or elite fight. I think it was a good tense fight but without the hype and names involved it was really nothing special. Bivol/Beterbiev was technically far superior.
Usyk is not the biggest puncher in the world but he does have a good left hand. I don't think he was swinging his left hand. He was throwing it with a lot of power but Fury had it well blocked a lot of the time. I will agree that this wasn't an exceptional fight. The first fight was really good. This was decent but somewhat boring.
