The fact is that the only way Usyk could win this fight is because Fury gave him round 1 for free. It Fury had fought seriously from the very beginning, as every fighter MUST do, today Fury would be the unified HW champion of the world, despite all Usyk's boxing skills.

And no, anyone thinking that Usyk could have won round one had Fury fought seriously, please go and rewatch it.

Nonetheless, and to be fair, not being a complete moron is a boxing skill too.

Impossible for Usyk to win round 1 can you hear yourself ? Usyk came out assertive and established early he was going to back up the bigger man won the round, and he won a majority of the rounds by doing just that throughout the fight what is all these mental gymnastics and coping ?

"Usyk only won fight the due to Fury's stupidity and not Usyk's skills"

WTF so it wasn't due to Usyk's skills and countering abilities that he almost knocked out Fury in round 9 ? Yeah this coping to the next level most fans had Usyk winning 8-4, 7-5, with the knockdown. He was the smaller man and backed up and out skilled the much larger fighter get over it and stop coping.

LOL, go and watch round one again. No way in hell would have Usyk won round one had Fury wanted to win it. No way in hell.

One of the most iconic images of this fight (apart from Fury standing unconcious) is Fury acting like a clown in the corner throwing round 1 to the toiled.

The reason why Fury was showboating in the 1st, is because he was embarrassed and trying to save face for the judges, because he knew Usyk had already taken control and was bossing the round. In no way did he give the round away, because it was never his to give away.

You do make a point, but people are too busy gloating about Fury losing to really think about any details.
It definitely is a stupid tactic to have an 'observation' round 1

I thought he was going to devour the middleweight midget. Now the narrative has changed to ‘Fury could beat him’?

It’s hilarious to watch your mental gymnastics. For years, you were the most obnoxious Fury fan. Now the mighty Gypsy King, the Big Momma Fury who was going to smother Usyk, was beaten to a bloody pulp. Tell me, mate, what did you feel watching those last 30 seconds of round nine? How was it watching the middleweight midget hitting that ugly bald head of your idol who staggered around in the ring uncontrollably, with pain and blood and disbelief on his face? I want a detailed report. After all the toxic stuff you posted here, that’s the bare minimum. Describe your disbelief and pain you experienced in that thirty seconds in detail.

Listen if you want to buy into a character and take it to heart and get emotional then that's your prerogative. I'll pray for you.

Usyk was the better fighter on the night, no excuses for Fury. He can win a rematch with a better game plan.

This is moronic what does "Usyk would never have won round 1" even mean ?

Is this some type of alternate reality to cope ?

Usyk won the round because he deserved to win the round not because Fury let him.......

I suppose Fury let Usyk win all the rounds from 7-12 aswell ? That was nothing to do with Usyk's skills, heart, desire.

    This is beyond ridiculous.

It's a feel out round, you don't just immediately have your opponents number coming into the ring.

It wasn't fully a character, mate, we both know this. Don't disrespect me by taking me for a fool. You only say this now because Usyk exposed Fury. You expressed your true feelings whenever it was about the upcoming bout between these two—granted, embellished for comedic effect but still. But if last night taught you humility, then all is well. Just don't forget that between Usyk and Fury, the former is the better fighter and the better human being, and it's not even close.

Have to say that's a rubbish outlook - Usyk started VERY fast, he was out 'not leaving Fury alone' cutting off the ring and executing his gameplan, with a couple of solid straights to the body in the 1st 20 seconds, the followed up by a nice backhand left 20 seconds or so later - and you could see in Fury's face after that backhand that he was surprised by the speed and efficacy of Usyk's work - as Chisora said after the fight, Fury showboats when he's trying to buy himself time to think and doesn't have any other ideas.

Fury didn't let Usyk win the first round (or the 2nd), that's a disservice to both fighters, Usyk just did what he always does.

I'd said all along that Fury's level of comp and activity was going to make fighting Usyk a real mare - and although he did a LOT better than I expected in 4-7, that's how it ended up.
