My thoughts are why would he apply? This fight was never really a thing, if he applied for a license in the US anytime in the next 6 months I would be surprised.
Frank's been pretty punchy about this today but, yeah, as it stands we have no contract signed, no date, no venue and no licence, with approx 8-9 weeks to go to the proposed fight week. Some boxes need ticking....
My thoughts too, cheap shot. The other things though do concern me a little: venue, date, contract signed and sealed. Be good to see some movement on those soon....
16 saturday nights until 2019. Finkle ruled a fight out with Joshua earlier in the year because the contract he was sent had 'No date or venue'. We're now months down the line, with no 'date or venue', yet apparently this fight is a certainty to happen. So you've got 14 weeks realistically until the fight has to happen. In order to generate interest, with so little time left, it needs to be as close to Christmas as possible. But then, with Christmas so close, who on earth is going to have a PPV at the top of their priorities? "Mega fights" don't get arranged as poorly as this.
I for one hope the fight happens, I would prefer a less ring rusty version of Fury. But beggars can't be choosers. That being said I am worried about this fight will not happen, we heard how this will be the easiest fight to be made. yet 2 weeks later still no contract, venue, date etc and now Fury needs to get his Licence WTF are these people managed by goldfish??
That was a question of whether the fight was next, this year, or not (which Eddie wouldn’t agree to stipulate) and what country it was going to be in. Finkel asked for clarification on these issues. Waited almost a week and then Eddie said, “Well, we’re moving on to Povetkin, have to sign to fight him within 24 hours because it’s a mandatory” ... and it took 3 weeks after that for him to announce the AJ-Povetkin fight.
I am not sure the quote on Povetkin is right though. He fought in the UK less than 6 months ago. I am sure he therefore has a licence to fight in the UK. I am willing to be corrected but I think Frank might be in his typical "react and forget the facts" phase here. Sky are trolling Frank, that is clear to anyone sensible just in the same way Frank trolled Matchroom and Sky over the Joshua/Wilder fight. If it is good for one party, it is good for the other. Either you condemn both parties or you say it is all fair game.
Yeah, totally agree. All's fair in love and boxing promotion. Sometimes there's more aggression shown by promoters than their fighters...
