Since AJ destroyed Wallin and Ngannou so easily we are at the point where his legacy is on the line. If he cant beat Usyk ( and I mean clearly win it, not some robbery) then he will have been all smoke and mirrors of 1 good win over Wlad in a **** fight. I dont like to diminish that win cause its quality to outbox wlad in Germany but thats basically it. Whyte and Chispra are punching bags amd his only other good win, Wilder got exposed again by Parker. It gives you this feeling of Fury not being good enough, him knowing that and milking it for as long as possible. If Usyk schools him then thats that how he will be viewed. If he clearly wins however he gets to redeem himself a lot and it would be a top 2 win for him and set up a huge AJ fight.
The only chance of winning for Fury in Usyk fight is via blatant corruption. Otherwise he get absolutely toyed by Usyk. I still believe in my prediction Usyk by a KO/TKO inside 11.
Don't forget the ease in which Parker whooped Wilder. All of Fury's top wins were whooped more convincingly by so-called lesser fighters.
I don't like Fury or his over the top fans, but I have maintained the opinion that a focused and ready Fury is a tough match up for anyone, past or present, including Usyk. The question now remains is, does Fury have the discipline to get in good shape and come in primed and ready.
That's fair, personally I have went off him,but have supported him from day one, as I believe when he is on? He is a great fighter Many think he is useless on this forum. It tales away from usyk if he wins on may. You can't have it both ways Either usyk beats a guy who is a nightmare on his day? Or an overrated bum who was always useless
An overrated bum who always chose the easiest opponent available. Wlad looked terrible the fight previous to Fury and Fury and team obviously knew he was dealing with a huge distraction in his psycho wife, her pregnancy, and the impending end of the relationship.
That's exactly what many here want - to have it both ways. So now according to some primitive "logic" Fury has to decisively (no controversy) beat Usyk to maintain his legacy. What a rubbish thread. The OP didn't even credit Fury for his successful trilogy vs. Wilder. It wasn't long ago when most favored Wilder over AJ... and Fury over AJ too. So recently an inactive Wilder gets UD'd by Parker and AJ has better performances vs. Wallin & Ngannou than Fury. Add some triangle theory and presto - AJ is a world beater again These same front runners w/very short memories forget AJs three losses (one vs. an obese Mexican, and 2X to a beefed up CW). Oh BTW, Wilder also performed better vs. Helenius than AJ. And AJs win vs. Franklin wasn't much better than near washed up Whyte's win. What these BF24 "gurus" do is cherry pick results - along with some sloppy "logic" - to fit their biases and the narrative they want to push. That's the content of many threads here It's boring and a main reason I've given this site some long rests over the past ~17 years. Here's an angle. If Fury barely beats Usyk or even goes 1-1, he's exceeded AJs 0-2 result. Even a draw outcome edges AJ. Oh my, what about AJs legacy?!
He may "need" to beat Uysk, but he's not going to. As for his legacy, it isn't that great regardless of what happens. A guy who advertises himself as 6'9" is supposed to beat a former cruiser. Now if he beats Uysk and goes on to beat Joshua...that might be something. But I doubt he can beat either at this point.
100 100% agree I don't care how many former Fury opponets Aj knocks out, if Fury beats Usyk even in a close fight he is ahead of Aj As you say above even 1-1 is better 0-2 Aj cherry picking Furys worst performances to out do him means little Ali didn't always smoke opponents, neither did Holmes, Lewis and Many others Compare Lewis performance with bruno to Tyson? How about Pacquiao smashing hatton much quicker than Floyd. How did his fight vs Floyd play out? As it stands Fury and Usyk are the top guys in the division and the winner will be the man. Aj at best is 3rd, but maybe he should step up and fight Parker without all home town advantage and ref in the pocket. People just hate Fury and I know there are reasons, he is frustrating as hell at times. Also I would bet anything Fury fully focused to one up Aj, would absolutely smash Ruiz to pieces if he fought him this year He beat Whyte easier, but that doesn't count because Aj got him first as a novice? Lol Fury will beat Usyk and the crying on here will be hysterical. Of course the narrative will switch to Usyk being an inactive middle weight who is 50 years old, despite Fury being close to his age, living a terrible life while having 3 years away lol
