"to be fair" Fury says. I think he means "to be frank", or better put "frankly". Why are all athletes spouting this "to be fair" nonsense? It doesn't make any sense 90% of the time. Anyway, I don't know what else people expected from the performance. He dealt with Chisora comprehensively. Of course, Fury won't want to face him for other reasons, of which there is no chance of him disclosing. Usyk is a serious threat to any of these big heavyweights and they know it.
I cant see Usyk doing particulalry well at HW tbh. He should be in interesting fights though for the most part, dont see him beating either Fury or Joshua. Hed box rings round Wilder but could get splattered if Wilder connects a windmill. Basically describing every Wilder fight ever there mind. I think he beats the fring contenders like Ortiz, Pulev, Hunter, Takam etc Then Parker, Ruiz, Whyte, Povetkin fights are all 50/50s. Might time Povetkin right and I could see him outboxing Whyte widely but I can also see both landing hard on Usyk too. Guess we'll have to see how good his chin is to fully assess how good he can be at the weight. If he can take heavyweight punches by the big boys then obviously his chances if success go up a lot.
Lol Fury's right. This puny Usyk is a lamb to the slaughter. It will only be a matter of time before he's trapped in the corner and given a good hiding against these huge overweight behemoths!
Usyk did give his own performance a 3/10. So Fury is being a bit rude but he's more or less agreeing with Usyk in a way. He's also admitting Usyk could improve at HW. He's also playing mind games, no doubt. Usyk's HW run is one of the most interesting things going on in boxing because there's a lot of mystery surrounding these match-ups and what Usyk can do to against the SHWs particularly. It all remains to be seen.
I got exactly the same impression watching Usyk-Chisora as Fury expresses here. Underwhelmed by Usyk's performance.
Exactly. Usyk fans on this forum were acting far more impressed than they should have been. Usyk can very possibly improve. He will need to, to have any hope against the top HWs.
True but Fury's never been keen on that fight at all. Don't get me wrong, a gypsy man knows not the meaning of fear and would literally take on an army single-handedly. However, the one thing a slickster is wary of is a fellow slickster.
But Cunningham is basically the equivalent of a statue on the CW Slickness scale compared to the fleet footed Usyk.
I've been saying for a long time now that I feel Usyk has been regressing. The WSB and James Ali Bashir trained one was significantly better IMO. I think he did good against Chisora but he could've done better and that he actually looked more fluid and loose than he did against Witherspoon which I was happy about but the WSB and Bashir trained Usyk was doing things back then I don't see him doing anymore and doing things I don't like now he wasn't doing back then. I haven't listened to this all yet but it's not a case of sour grapes from Bashir as some might assume because he's actually been very supportive of Usyk since they parted ways and always speaks highly of him. EE fighters need to make gains through american training methods and techniques! the brits done it, creating a super force of champions some years ago.
I do not think Usyk stands a chance against a in shape physically and mentally Fury. However Usyk is a wise old head, he had the beating of Chisora from early on, he had no reason to up the ante, why make himself look more impressive, that would just make either of the champs less likely to want to fight him until forced to. That is assuming of course that Usyk can up his game.
