I think this is where the “A hits the hardest” and “A hit ME the hardest” distinction comes

A fighter can only talk from his own experience. If you ask Holyfield who punched harder between John Ruiz and Ray Mercer he’d probably pick the guy who dropped him with a right hand. That doesn’t mean Ruiz is a harder puncher than Mercer, it just means he got Holyfield better than Mercer did.

We know from the Wallin and Ngannou matches that there is a noticeable gap between AJ and Fury when it comes to punching power, but its entirely possible that Fury, being the better fighter, landed better punches on Allen. After all, both of these guys are heavyweight champions, both can hit extremely hard, all depends on who lands cleaner.

Similar to how MMA Fighter Daniel Cormier said that hardest hitter he faced was Dan Henderson, but the guy who hurt him the most was Jon Jones.

Parker says Ruiz is the hardest hitter he has fought or sparred against, despite being in the ring with some of the biggest punchers of this generation.

When people say hardest hitter, or biggest puncher etc I'm sure everyone has their own metric and definition of what they think that means.

There is a dozen different ways someone can hit hard. One punch lights out vs most painful to relieve vs heavy shots that push a fighter back and so on.

The man who hits the hardest is the man who's punches you can't see coming from off angles. Fury would have a field day with Dave.

But evidently Fury is not a natural puncher nor is Usyk.

This is just what Sugar Hill said all along.
Fury is the real KO artist out there.
Land da righthand and go home dawg!

lol Look at the fighters that have been in the ring with these three, Fury's KO rate is poor, sparring doesn't mean much it's just practice, you shouldn't be throwing your hardest shots in sparring, there's no way Fury could have knocked out Francis with one shot, you're telling me Fury hit Allen with harder shots than the punch that sparked Francis, utter drivel.

He's only won one fight with a one punch KO, that was Dillian ''uppercut'' Whyte.

I think Dave Allen has been honest in his assessment that he is always talking about who hit HIM the hardest. Mind you Usyk turned his lights out in sparring which he said no one has ever done. When your lights get turned off are you able to assess how hard the shot was? Genuine question, I’d have thought there is usually a very short term memory loss. Anyways none of these mean much as there are too many variables. Are you assessing ability to deliver the shot, the situational aspects? The defensive reflex of the recipient at the time? Too many to answer objectively. I suppose only a punch machine designed to measure the sheer force of a shot can tell you anything objectively.

The hardest punchers Allen has shared a ring with

He gives explanations as to why he ranks them where he does. Some he only sparred a few rounds with, some might not have caught him clean. Usyk doesn't hit harder than Price but by the same token Usyk is the only one who hurt him badly

He's sparred many other top HWs and CWs in addition to these

    1. Chisora
    2. Greedy Belly
    3. Dubois
    4. AJ
    5. Yoka
    6. Ortiz
    7. Whyte
    8. Usyk
    9. David Price
    10. Big Joe Joyce
    11. Nick Webb
    12. Lucas Browne

He said he only sparred Dubois 2 rounds but that Dubois' jab was as heavy as the right hand of 99% of other punchers he's shared a ring with

The big omission is Wlad who I'd say was the hardest and best puncher he's shared a ring with, with devastating one punch power in either hand. He says he didn't spar Wlad many rounds though (2 rounds) and that Wlad never really caught him because he ran the whole spar

He says he also forgot to mention Bakole

Dave Allen has played an invaluable role as a sparring partner for boxing's biggest stars.

During a punishing early portion of his career, 'The White Rhino' shared the ring with some of the best big men of his generation, including Oleksandr Usyk, Wladimir Klitschko, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

While most of the aforementioned names earned millions for the fights, Allen helped them prepare for, the Brit earned considerably less for his important part.

In some cases, he pocketed a decent four-figure wage for the hazardous job, although in others, he went home empty-handed.

In an exclusive peek behind the curtain, Allen revealed all to talkSPORT.com about sparring pay.

"The most I earned in sparring was with Wladimir Klitschko," said Allen.

"I lied about my height, I lied about my weight, and I lied about my fitness levels to get into that camp.

"I wasn't there for long, but he was a lovely fella. Klitschko would have 10 sparring partners, he was the ultimate professional.

"I was earning £1500 a week, and everyone was on the same money.

"He was spending nearly £100,000 on sparring partners.

"He was the ultimate professional. We sparred hard, there were no prisoners taken.

"But for that money, I didn't complain.

"Usyk also paid very well, £2000 for two weeks."

While the Ukrainians pulled out all the stops for their sparring partners, the Brits tend to be much stingier.

"I didn't get paid to spar AJ because I was sparring him when we were both amateurs," Allen added.

"I also sparred him during his first three years as a pro, and I probably should have been paid then, but we were kind of mates.

"Tyson [Fury] used to slip me a few quid, but he was always really nice to me, we were friends.

"I would always do the initial few rounds, he would ease his way in, and then he would go and beat some poor fella up after me.

"I sparred ahead of his comeback fights with Seferi and Pianetta at Ricky Hatton's gym.

"There was a KFC around the corner, and he gave me money for fuel, a oner [£100] for sparring and an extra £20, which I would go around the corner to get some KFC with."

Sparring is by far the best way to fine-tune your skills as a boxer.

However, it is also where the most damage is done.

Before boxers step into the ring to duke it out over 12 stanzas, they rack up hundreds of rounds of punishment behind closed doors.

Some sparring sessions can be even more brutal than the fights themselves.

Allen is all too familiar with this harsh reality, having briefly hung up his gloves in 2020 after being knocked out on his feet by Usyk in his gym in Ukraine.

Recalling the scary scenes, he said at the time: "To be honest, when I sparred Usyk he knocked me unconscious.

"I never went over, I finished the round. But I can remember him hitting me.

"The rest of the round - next thing I knew I was stood outside the ring, packing my bag.

"I was concussed, so that was the last straw.

"I'm not an idiot, so I know when it's time to finish.

"Yeah, a lot of money could've been made, but at what cost? Being embarrassed.

"Being hurt is one thing, but being embarrassed is another."

Usyk is a gentleman. He backed away when he had Allen hurt.

Yes, that was very classy of him.

Allen is crazy tough and durable and he's taken a ton of damage in the gym alone sparring the best HWs and CWs in the world

He says he has actually been knocked out before, the only time he's been off his feet in his life and that was in the gym when he was 18 y/o, much lighter, and very inexperienced (either before or after his 1st amateur fight). The guy who knocked him out was a journeyman who finished up 8-35-1 (5 KOs). Crazy.

Allen might be the most refreshingly honest boxer of all time

Proper journeyman. I really respect it.

Would love to see him knock out Makhmudov but I think its a very tough fight for him, although its defo possible.

Fury is feather fisted. This assertion is just ridiculous.
