Fury put an absolute clinic on Usyk rounds 1 to 7

I had it for Usyk in a close fight. The judges agreed with me.

But you are entitled to your opinion just like I am entitled to mine.

 

No...two judges agreed with you, and one was totally corrupt. Because of that corrupt judge, there is a false narrative that the fight was tougher than it was.

Hey, if you had it for Usyk, you made the right choice.

There are basically five things that fights are judged on....they may vary a bit from federation to federation, but most variations say the same thing...

CLEAN/HARD PUNCHING
RING GENERALSHIP
DEFENSE
POINTS AWARDED/DEDUCTED


Fury cannot be said to have won any of these.

How can you give Fury effective aggression when Usyk landed more punches, and had more rounds when he landed more punches?

How can Fury be said to have won clean/hard punching when Usyk landed more power punches, had more rounds where he landed more power punches, and scored the knockdown?

How can you give Fury defense given the results above?

How can you give him ring generalship?

Usyk scored the knockdown for the extra point.

 

Correct, the judges had it 115-112, 114-113 and 113-114, and the scores reflected the close fight that it was.

 

Honestly half of them are AJ fans jumping on the Usyk bandwagon. Diminishing Fury and over embellishing Usyk for the purpose of making AJ look better to Fury in comparison and try to make a case for a third Usyk fight.

That Dubios loss has fortunately scuppered that plan. For now.

Bring on December. I hope both come in peak shape for another exciting bout, and may the best man win.

 

Usyk has worked Fury out now as he did Joshua in the rematch. He always starts slow then adjusts. The question is that unlike AJ, can Fury mix it up enough to give Usyk a different problem to solve. It's within his ability to switch styles drastically whereas Joshua is pretty 1 dimensional as a fighter.

 

I had it 7-5 Usyk with knockdown. Close fight and yes there was a point in time going into the 7th round I felt Fury was in command and may even stop Usyk. It was a high quality fight

 

I thought Usyk actually started relatively fast and that much more aggressive than usual.

Consequently that had Fury on the back foot and being moved around.

I also thought the less practiced, less familiar fast start saw Usyk hit a bit of lull within himself during rounds 4-6 but then he recovered himself thereafter.

 

I legit thought that the fight was over by round 6, that Fury was just toying with him at this point and that it would be over before round 10.

In the end, I was right. Just in the opposite way lol.

 

He was still unable to win rounds, he takes time to get a proper scope of his opposition.

 

He clearly won rds 1-3 in my book. After rds 4-6 he simply picked back up on his winning ways.

 

Fury landed some telling blows in those middle rounds and rested the initiative. Usyk didn't call it his toughest fight for nothing. Credit though to Usyk for the 9th round in particular. He finished the stronger over the later rounds and deserved the win.

Hope the rematch is as close and as intriguing.

 

Looking at the judges scorecards, you would think Usyk vs AJ II was close too.

 

I love how these Fury fans quote these judges scorecards all the time I guess by their logic Fury vs Wilder 1 was a legit draw then because the judges scored it a draw ? and Wilder had an argument to winning the fight because one judge had it 115-111 to Wilder ?

 

Yes, it’s a “metric” that has been disingenuously clung to as pure evidence in its own right.
