What has Wlad-Joshua got to do with it? The only relevance I see is that it's an eliminator to perhaps challenge Fury if he comes back, or an eliminator towards finding a successor.

Fury is champion, that's the point. I don't know how much money Fury will make. I guess if he comes back to fight the winner of Wlad-Joshua that would be a huge fight.
I don't really think the money potential is relevant though. Fury's the champion. No one can take that away from him. It's not a popularity contest, it's boxing. Every boxer is aware of the situation. While Fury is sitting around 25-0 and saying he'll be back next year, there's nothing anyone can do. The championship remains with him.

Fury like Ali has relinquished his title, he is now an ex champ.I commend him for his straight forward action.When Jeffries,Tunney,Louis, Marciano , retired did they remain champion? Of course not

I think it is clear to anyone with half a brain he vacated before he was striped, lost his license and banned for multiple cases of drug and PED use. To make him any kind of 'Champion in recess' would be truly criminal.

The British Boxing Board of control confirmed his licence was suspended "pending further investigation into anti-doping and medical issues."
