Tyson Fury is my favorite active hw. The one i think is most talented, the one I think will come out on top if the big 3 ever do fight each other fully. But I give credit and blame where it is due, and the Schwartz fight is inexcusable, and wastes so much of the forward momentum he had generated. Shwartz may not even be a top 50 HW. At least AJ and Wilder will be facing fringe top 10 opponents next. Shwartz is just an utter waste of 6 months, and makes fury look like a pretender to the throne. I'm trying to recall the last time a high level HW followed up a mostly successful match result in such a high level match, with such a poor opponent, and im blanking. Anyone?
Riddick Bowe did fight Michael Dokes and Jesse Ferguson in back to back fights straight after the first Holyfield bout.
Nah, I'm actually a fairly low level high on Schwarz, he's decent. He's worked up quite a good resume, taking the 0's of a ton of Euro level fighters, and fighting a few half decent fighters with 1 or 2 losses. I'd pick him without hesitation to beat Seferi and Pianeta. I also think he could beat guys like Charr, Dimitrenko, Dinu, Wallin, Kuzmin and Kabayel.
Larry Holmes followed up his epic 15 round classic with Ken Norton with a defence against Alfredo Evangelista.
Joe Frazier won "The Fight of the Century", 15 rounds against the undefeated Muhammad Ali, beat him up and knocked him down .... then followed up with a fight with Terry Daniels !
Patterson went from Archie Moore to Tommy Jackson and from the Johansson trilogy to a defence against McNeeley... so can be a lot worse. Still, a much larger drop off.
It doesn't matter if you rate Schwarz or not, he'll lose all 12 rounds. It won't be competitive. It's a **** matchup. Schwarz is tough and crafty but he lacks power, speed and boxing skills in general. So basically all the things you need to trouble Tyson Fury. Joshua vs. Miller or Wilder vs. Brezeale are better matchups for sure. BUT... If give Tyson Fury that. He came back from depression and was obese and within six months he fought Wilder in his backyard and won fair and square but was robbed. He deserves one or two easier fights vs. solid but lower level opposition to gain the best shape of his career. Schwarz is definitely better than Pianeta and Seferi. I think Tyson Fury showed everyone that he isn't afraid to fight anyone anywhere. So i am pretty confident we'll see the Wilder 2 or Joshua fight in the near future (End of 2019, 2020). I am glad that Fury stays busy and active in the ring. That's a pretty good sign.
Yeah, instead of fightng Wepner, he probably shold have quit - and no one wants to end up like Muhammad Ali anyway.
Well, match up itself is bad on paper but I reckon it's better in real life. I think Shwarz will suprise many with his performance.
