I do agree with your last point, I think it will be super dissapointing if he went down that route of vacating the belt. FWIW I don't think he will and the fight against Whyte will get made. His social media indicates he's in training currently.
Sparring is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Whyte/Fury/AJ all of them have likely been put down at points during sparring by a huge list of people.
Elevating somebody else to champion when the alternative is giving Wilder a vacant shot for the title. I'd donate my lifes saving to charity if I saw the WBC do that.
Whyte is a bum. "Ducking" is like if Fury refused to fight Usyk. Because Usyk has earned a right to be considered an outstanding challenger. That would be a duck. Lennox Lewis dropped belts instead of fighting guys like Chris Byrd, or an ancient Holyfield for the 3rd time, or John Ruiz. No one cares because no one really considers Byrd much of a challenge to Lewis. Very few people call it ducking. This is a similar case, IF Fury drops the belt.
It comes down to money. Whyte earned £300k for his last fight, Fury earned £15 million. A fair split would be 80-20 in Fury's favour.
If fury ducks whyte hes a complete *****, just as bad as wilder. The guys fought no one since klitschko and continues to duck, swerve and cherry pick at every opportunity whilst proclaiming to be the king. Fight your ****ing mandatory you fraud.
Call it what you want. Dropping the WBC belt and refusing to fight a mandatory is ducking. You and Fury can get as creative as you want in trying to make it seem like it's a business move. But it is still ducking. Just like Wilder ducking Whyte. Lewis fought everybody and didn't drop belts. Ali fought the best of 2 decades. Fury has 1 title defense and two arbitrations within the last year to force him to fight. Not a champ, but a ducking chump
Amen. And if he does duck, watch his rabid fans support his cowardice. This is why boxing is losing to YouTubers right now
Still not really sure why Whyte is even WBC mandatory tbh honest - sparked by Pov, long absense under exceptional circumstances - sure he beat a death-warmed over Pov and avenged his loss, but does he merit it more than Joyce - especially given he also got sparked by AJ who was a long term champ (I appreciate that was before AJ won the title tho) Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but I think Joyce should be given a shot before Whyte
I just literally explained that he did. Lewis was stripped of the WBA and dropped the IBF belt for refusing to fight the men he was ordered to fight. That happened. No one calls it ducking, because it wasn't ducking. He just didn't need to fight those bums.
