Fury to face Larsen?

well maybe its just tyson furys way of bringing down primetime from the inside, fight **** opponents on 5 so even fewer but the ppv on primetime.

chivalrous move by fury in my opinion.

Seems like a pretty good fight to me 6'5, undefeated, good ko ratio. A good learning fight, I would rather see Fury have another 2 or 3 fights like this before trying to make the move to Euro title - fringe world class.

Anyways from what i seen he's not overly impressive other then his one punch finishes he seems to struggle technically from hands to feet. He's gonna struggle with everything Tyson brings really. It will be entertaining because he seems to have a edge about him and grits his teeth and wants to do damage but he's gonna end up getting Ko'd like Nascimento. He doesn't look to have any defence other then ''i try land first''.

Tbh Channel 5 will get a tear up and the guy's unbeaten and is a big fella. Casual's wanna see action and i just hope Tyson doesn't mess around and works this guy over and stops him around 4-5 rounds in.

 

There's actually quite a bit of Larsen on facebook considering the career he has had. There's some positives and some negatives.

Positives: he has an unbeaten record, is quite tall at 6'5 and is a big lad at more than 18 1/2 stone. That's not fat either, he aesthetically seems in pretty decent nick and at the very least looks an in shape fighter. A blob of fat can be very of putting to the general public. His 11 knockouts in his 14 fights (albeit against weak opposition) seems to be the result of some genuine power, he does indeed look like he can bang.

Negatives:
Unfortunately the lad can't box a lick :-(, technically he is very poor and his defence is porous. His hands are low he paws with the jab, and when he actually tries to throw the thing it's extremely crude and inaccurate, and most of the time he's looking to line up that big right hand. He seems to respond poorly when his opponent has a high punch output (which Fury can have at times) and his stamina also seems quite questionable, not surprising with his considerable bulk.

All in all it was always going to be difficult to get an opponent in at this late stage. Could they have got someone like Paolo Vidoz in, who in reality is probably a much better fighter ?, well yes I assume they could. Would Vidoz have shown up well as an opponent for Fury on channel 5 and the fight was a spectacle ?, well no, not at all. He'd have carried a bit of a gut, he'd have spoiled and held a lot, he'd probably do enough to make Fury look limited at times and the fight wouldn't be very entertaining. Not to mention his record doesn't look very appealing to the non boxing fan.

Leif Larsen at 14-0(11 knockout wins), 6'5, big man who's in shape, will look to try and bomb Fury out of there and will make Fury look very good in the process probably is the right opponent for Fury at this stage, considering they are trying to build him a fanbase on channel 5. People might say that uncompetitive fights will turn people off and if they go on forever they will. But look how Ricky Hatton was built up on Sky, regular fights is a first and foremost and occasional chances to look very good bombing people out don't hurt either. Once Fury gets the hard fights, Chisora, Price, Perez etc, between one or two of these fights then no harm is being done. That's providing he stays active. If he's taking 5-6 months between fights, then these bouts become unacceptable. But considering it's less than 2 months after defeating Chisora there's nothing wrong with this bout at all.

Fury will bust him up with the jab for a round or two, and then won't be able to miss with the right hand, or anything else really after. Look for a stoppage around round 3-4, as even if this guys chin turns out to be granite British refs tend to lean on the side of caution and this guys gonna be shipping quite a few. On the other side of things, if Larsen does actually manage to land that big right hand he could knock Fury spark out. Unlikely, but at least there's that small chance to keep us entertained.

 

He is a 36 year old NFL guy who can't fight a lick. Fury will beat him soundly.

Still, its better than no opponent.

 

He can clearly whack a bit.

Not as bad as it could be, let's get that straight. And better than no one.

 

As long as this lasts 3 or so round this would be a good fight. Similar looking record, in shape, knockout power. Easy sell to the public

 

i have no problem with this. clean record, can seemingly bang a bit, not in horrific shape.

fury will probably do a job on him in no time, and will hopefully look good in doing so.

could be a decent fight whilst it lasts, fury will win by ko though

 

still need to watch what Larsen as to offer but its a fight where tyson get's his name out to the public once more.
